Poly[trans-diaqua-bis[?-3-(3-pyrid-yl)propionato-?N,O]cadmium(II)].

ABSTRACT: The title compound [Cd(L)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n) (L = 3-pyridine-propionic acid, C(8)H(8)NO(2)), is a two-dimensional coordination polymer in which the Cd(II) ion lies on an inversion center and is coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. The aqua H atoms are involved in inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, which extend the two-dimensional structure to a three-dimensional architecture. The Cd?Cd separation within a layer is 9.0031?(1)?Å.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Cd(C(2)Cl(3)O(2))(2)(C(12)H(10)N(2))(2)]·H(2)O}(n), the Cd(II) ion lies on a twofold rotation axis and 1,2-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)ethene ligands bridge symmetry-related Cd(II) ions, forming a two-dimensional structure. Two trichloro-acetate ligands complete the coordination around the Cd(II )ion, forming a distorted octa-hedral environment. In the crystal, solvent water mol-ecules, which also lie on twofold rotation axes, form inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, which connect the two-dimensional structure into a three-dimensional network. The crystal studied was an inversion twin, the refined ratio of twin components being 0.75?(4):0.25?(4).

Project description:The Zn(II) ion in the title compound, [Zn(C(15)H(14)N(10))(H(2)O)(2)](ClO(4))(2), lies on a centre of symmetry. The distorted N(4)O(2) octa-hedral coordination environment around the Zn atom is composed of two 1,3-bis-[5-(2-pyrid-yl)-2H-tetra-zol-2-yl]propane ligands (L1) and two water mol-ecules, coordinated in trans positions. The ligand acts as a typical bidentate chelating ligand through one of its 2-pyridyl-2H-tetra-zole units, forming a five-membered Zn-N-C-C-N metallacycle with a small N-Zn-N bite angle [77.40 (8)°]. The other 2-pyridyl-2H-tetra-zole unit remains uncoordinated. The average Zn-N distance (2.156 Å) is somewhat longer than the distance between the Zn(II) center and the aqua ligand [2.108 (2) Å]. The coordinated pyrid-yl-tetra-zoyl rings are quasi-coplanar, making a dihedral angle of 1.9 (2)°, while the uncoordinated rings show a larger inter-planar angle of 21.3 (2)°. The flexible propane spacer displays a zigzag chain. Inter-molecular O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O inter-actions result in two-dimensional polymeric structures parallel to (100). Two C atoms of the spacer are disordered over two positions, with site occupancy factors of ca 0.85 and 0.15.

In turn, these clusters are linked by tethering 1,4-bis-(3-pyridylmeth-yl)piperazine (3-bpmp) ligands into [Cd(2)(2,2-dimethyl-succinate)(2)(3-bpmp)(H(2)O)(4)](n) coordination polymer chains. The chain motifs are oriented parallel to [10]. Individual chains are connected into supra-molecular layers via O-H?N and O-H?O hydrogen-bonding mechanisms.

Project description:The title complex, [Co(C(12)H(10)N(6))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](C(8)H(4)NO(6))(2), is composed of a mononuclear cobalt(II) cation and two 3-carb-oxy-5-nitro-benzoate anions for charge balance. In the cation, the Co(II) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. It bonds to two O atoms of two water mol-ecules, and two pairs of N atoms from two 4-amino-3,5-bis-(2-pyrid-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole mol-ecules, which behave as bidentate chelating ligands. There are intra-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds in the cation. In the crystal, there are a number of inter-molecular N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, as well as inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.657?(2) and 3.847?(2)?Å], that link the mol-ecules into two-dimensional networks lying parallel to the ab plane. The presence of C-H?O inter-actions leads to the formation of a three-dimensional network.

The cation sits on a twofold axis and is six-coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry; the polyhedra are linked into zigzag chains, which are further connected by N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds as well as π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance of 3.639 (2) Å], giving a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.
