Poly[[bis-[?-1,2-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)ethene]bis-(trichloro-acetato)-cadmium(II)] monohydrate].

ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Cd(C(2)Cl(3)O(2))(2)(C(12)H(10)N(2))(2)]·H(2)O}(n), the Cd(II) ion lies on a twofold rotation axis and 1,2-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)ethene ligands bridge symmetry-related Cd(II) ions, forming a two-dimensional structure. Two trichloro-acetate ligands complete the coordination around the Cd(II )ion, forming a distorted octa-hedral environment. In the crystal, solvent water mol-ecules, which also lie on twofold rotation axes, form inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, which connect the two-dimensional structure into a three-dimensional network. The crystal studied was an inversion twin, the refined ratio of twin components being 0.75?(4):0.25?(4).

Project description:In the title compound, C(12)H(10)N(2)·C(8)H(6)O(4), the asymmetric unit contains two halves of 1,2-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)ethene (bpe) mol-ecules and one benzene-1,3-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (1,3-H(2)BDC) mol-ecule. These bpe and 1,3-H(2)BDC mol-ecules are linked by classical O-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming an extended one-dimensional zigzag chain. Project description:The title compound, {[Cd(CH(3)COO)(2)(C(20)H(16)N(6)S(2))]·3H(2)O}(n), exists as a one-dimensional zigzag polymer in which the Cd(II) ion shows a seven-coordinate [CdO(5)N(2)] distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry with the N atoms in axial positions and an N-Cd-N angle of 176.94?(13)°. The metal atoms are bridged by 1,2-bis-[4-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidin-2-ylsulfan-yl]ethane ligands, giving a polymeric chain extending along the b axis. Adjacent chains related by an inversion center are further bridged by Cd-O bonds formed between the O atom of one of the acetate ligands and the metal atom. The five Cd-O bond lengths are in the range 2.329?(3)-2.485?(3)?Å. There are ?-? stacking inter-actions between the aromatic rings of adjacent polymeric chains, the centroid-centroid distances being 3.556?(3) and 3.698?(3)?Å, organizing the chains into a three-dimensional framework. This framework is additionally stabilized by extensive O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonding between water mol-ecules and the ligands.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(NCS)(2)(C(12)H(10)N(2))(2)]·C(12)H(10)N(2), the Co(II) cations are octa-hedrally coordinated by two terminally N-bonded thio-cyanate anions and four 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene (bpe) ligands. The asymmetric unit consists of three crystallographically independent Co(II) cations, six thio-cyanate anions and six coordinating bpe ligands in general positions. Additionally, three non-coordin-ating bpe ligands are present in the asymmetric unit with two of them located on a center of inversion. The Co(II) cations are connected by the bpe ligands into layers parallel to the bc plane. The crystal investigated was non-merohedrically twinned, with a fractional contribution of 0.261?(2) for the minor domain.
