Redetermination of cyclo-tetra-kis-(?-5,10,15,20-tetra-4-pyridyl-porphyrinato)tetra-zinc(II) dimethyl-formamide octa-solvate trihydrate at 100?K.

ABSTRACT: The structure of the title compound, [Zn(4)(C(40)H(24)N(8))(4)]·8C(3)H(7)NO·3H(2)O, has been redetermined at 100?K. The redetermination is of significantly higher precision and gives further insight into the disorder of pyridyl groups and solvent mol-ecules. The mol-ecules of (5,10,15,20-tetra-4-pyridyl-porphyrinato)zinc(II) (ZnTPyP) form homomolecular cyclic tetra-mers by coordination of a peripheral pyridyl group to the central Zn atom of an adjacent symmetry-related mol-ecule. The tetra-mer so formed exhibits mol-ecular S(4) symmetry and is located about a crystallographic fourfold rotoinversion axis. Severely disordered dimethyl-formamide and water mol-ecules are present in the crystal, the contributions of which were omitted from refinement. Inter-molecular C-H?N hydrogen bonding is observed.

The porphyrinate core exhibits a nearly planar conformation [maximum deviation = 0.027?(3)?Å], with Cu-N distances of 1.997?(2) and 2.001?(2)?Å. The benzene rings of the 4-octyloxyphenyl groups are rotated at angles of 84.02?(8) and 77.02?(6)° with respect to the mean plane of the porphyrin fragment. The two terminal C atoms in the octyl group are disordered over two positions of equal occupancy.

Project description:The title compound, [Mn(C48H36N4)(N)], is a manganese(V) complex with the transition metal in a square-pyramidal coordination geometry and a nitride as the axial ligand. The complex resides on a crystallographic inversion center and only one half of it is symmetry independent. The Mn(V) atom and the nitride N atom are equally disordered across the inversion center. The Mn N distance is 1.516 (4) Å. The Mn(V) atom is displaced from the plane defined by the four equatorial nitro-gen atoms toward the nitride ligand by 0.3162 (6) Å.

Redetermination of diaqua-tetra-kis-(dimethyl-formamide-?O)magnesium dichloride.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Mg(C(3)H(7)NO)(4)(H(2)O)(2)]Cl(2), in which the Mg ion lies on a crystallographic inversion centre, confirms that of the previous room-temperature study [Pavanello et al. (1995 ?). Main Group Met. Chem.18, 9-19]. This redetermination at 113?K has improved geometry precision by almost an order of magnitude [e.g. Mg-O(w) (w = water) distances = 2.094?(4) and 2.0899?(7)?Å in the old and new structures, respectively] and allowed the water H atoms to be located and their positions refined. In the crystal, O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds between the two aqua ligands of the complex mol-ecule and neighboring chloride counter-anions generate supra-molecular chains propagating along [010]. The dicationic [Mg(DMF)(4)(H(2)O)(2)] unit (DMF is dimethyl-formamide) adopts a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry in which the Mg atom is coordinated by four DMF O atoms in a pseudo-tetra-gonal arrangement and two trans aqua ligands.

Project description:The title compound, [Zn(C72H44N4O8)(C4H10N2)] or [Zn(TPBP)(pipz] (where TPBP and pipz are 5,10,15,20-tetra-kis-[4-(benzo-yloxy)phen-yl]porphyrinato and piperazine ligands respectively), features a distorted square-pyramidal coordin-ation geometry about the central Zn(II) atom. This central atom is chelated by the four N atoms of the porphyrinate anion and further coordinated by a nitro-gen atom of the piperazine axial ligand, which adopts a chair confirmation. The average Zn-N(pyrrole) bond length is 2.078 (7) Å and the Zn- N(pipz) bond length is 2.1274 (19) Å. The zinc cation is displaced by 0.4365 (4) Å from the N4C20 mean plane of the porphyrinate anion toward the piperazine axial ligand. This porphyrinate macrocycle exhibits major saddle and moderate ruffling deformations. In the crystal, the supra-molecular structure is made by parallel pairs of layers along (100), with an inter-layer distance of 4.100 Å while the distance between two pairs of layers is 4.047 Å. A region of electron density was treated with the SQUEEZE [Spek (2015 ▸). Acta Cryst. C71, 9-18] procedure in PLATON following unsuccessful attempts to model it as being part of disordered n-hexane solvent and water mol-ecules. The given chemical formula and other crystal data do not take into account these solvent mol-ecules.

Project description:In the mol-ecule of the title compound, [Co(C(44)H(24)Cl(4)N(4)){(C(4)H(9))(3)P}(2)]ClO(4), the Co(III) centre has a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry and is coordinated by four N atoms of the tetra-pyrrolic ring in the equatorial positions and two phosphine ligands in the axial positions. The dihedral angles between meso-substituted chloro-phenyl rings and the basic tetra-pyrrolic ring are 82.66 (9), 82.16 (7), 83.97 (11) and 76.87 (8)°. In one of the phosphine ligands, the two terminal methyl groups are disordered over two positions with refined site-occupancy ratios of 0.70 (7):0.30 (7) and 0.66 (2):0.34 (2). In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked together along the a axis by inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl inter-actions. The crystal structure is further stabilized by intra-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N inter-actions and inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(C48H36N4O4)]·2CH2Cl2, the Zn(II) ion lies on an inversion center and is coordinated in an almost ideal square-planar geometry. The asymmetric unit also contains one di-chloro-methane solvent mol-ecule. The unique meth-oxy-substituted benzene rings form dihedral angles of 59.38 (6) and 66.77 (6)° with the mean plane (r.m.s. deviation of fitted atoms = 0.0282 Å) of the atoms in the porphyrin core. The packing is characterized by close contacts between the Zn(II) ion and two symmetry-related mol-ecules through the O atoms of a meth-oxy-phenyl group [Zn⋯O = 2.694 (2) Å], forming a two-dimensional network parallel to (100).
