A second monoclinic polymorph of ethyl-enediammonium bis-(hydrogen squarate) monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(2)H(10)N(2) (2+)·2HC(4)O(4) (-)·H(2)O, a new polymorph of ethyl-enediammonium bis-(hydrogen squarate) monohydrate, was synthesized by slow evaporation of an acid solution. The asymetric unit contains two hydrogen squarate anions, two half-mol-ecules of protonated ethyl-enediamine arranged around a twofold axis and one water mol-ecule. In the crystal, N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the hydrogen squarate anions, protonated N atoms from the amine group and water mol-ecules lead to a three-dimensional framework. In particular, the cohesion between the squarate groups is ensured by very short intermolecular hydrogen bonds bonds. The title compound crystallized together with the previously reported polymorph [Mathew et al. (2002 ?). J. Mol. Struct.641, 263-279].

The asymetric unit contains one yttrium cation in an anti-prismatic environnement, three squarate groups, one and a half protonated ethyl-enediamine mol-ecules and four water mol-ecules. YO(8) polyhedra are connected through bis-(mono-dentate) squarates, leading to infinite zigzag chains, in between which are located ammonium groups. A framework of hydrogen bonds between protonated amine N atoms, water mol-ecules and squarate anions ensures the cohesion of the structure.

The crystal structure is stabilized by various inter-molecular O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, and by weak ?-? stacking inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances between symmetry-related benzene rings ranging from 3.5249?(13) to 3.7566?(14)?Å.

A second monoclinic polymorph of N-cyclo-hexyl-N-ethyl-benzene-sulfonamide.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C(14)H(21)NO(2)S, is a polymorph of the structure reported by Khan et al. [Acta Cryst. (2009), E65, o2867] which is also monoclinic (space group P2(1)/c). The unit cell in the title structure is approximately half the volume of the previously reported polymorph and the asymmetric unit of the title compound contains one mol-ecule rather than two independent mol-ecules in the other polymorph. In the title mol-ecule, the cyclo-hexane ring is in the typical chair form. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked via weak inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions, forming a chain along the b-axis direction.

Bis(1,3-dimethyl-1H-imidazolium) hexa-fluoro-silicate: the second monoclinic polymorph.

Project description:The title compound, 2C5H9N2 (+)·SiF6 (2-), (I), crystallized as a new polymorph, different from the previously reported one (Ia) [Light et al. (2007 ?) private communication (refcode: NIQFAV). CCDC, Cambridge, England]. The symmetry [space groups P21/n for (I) and C2/c for(Ia)] and crystal packing patterns are markedly different for this pair of polymorphs. In (I), all imidazolium cations in the lattice are nearly parallel to each other, whereas a herringbone arrangement can be found in (Ia). In (I), each SiF6 (2-) dianion forms four short C-H?F contacts with adjacent C5H9N2 (+) cations, resulting in the formation of layers parallel to the ac plane. In (Ia), the C-H?F contacts are generally longer and result in the formation of layers along the bc plane.

Ethyl-enediammonium tetra-bromido-mercurate(II) monohydrate.

Project description:The Hg(II) atoms in the crystal structure of the title compound, (C(2)H(10)N(2))[HgBr(4)]·H(2)O, are tetra-hedrally coordinated by four Br atoms and the resulting [HgBr(4)](2-) ions are inter-connected to the [NH(3)-CH(2)-CH(2)-NH(3)](2+) ions and water mol-ecules by N-H⋯Br and O-H⋯Br bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. N-H⋯O inter-actions are also present. The observed three different Hg-Br distances of 2.5597 (6), 2.6862 (8) and 2.6923 (8) Å in the tetra-bromo-mercurate unit are due to the connection of Br atoms to different numbers of H atoms. The Hg, O and two Br atoms are located on a crystallographic mirror plane. The cation has symmetry with the center of the C-C bond lying on a crystallographic center of inversion.

Project description:The title compound, C13H13NO2, was previously described in space group P21/c by He et al. [Acta Cryst. (1993), C49, 2000-2002]. The ethyl group is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.615?(10):0.385?(10) ratio. The C-O-C-C torsion angles containing the ethyl group are -111.6?(10) and 177.9?(7)°, while in the previously reported polymorph, the torsion angle is -167.3?(2)°. The molecules pack to form a three-dimensional structure in the ABAB style along the c-axis direction in the title compound, but parallel to the a-axis direction in the reported polymorph.

Project description:The title compound, 2C(2)H(10)N(2) (2+)·B(14)O(20)(OH)(6) (4-), consists of a centrosymmetric tetra-deca-borate anion and two ethyl-enediammonium cations. The anions are inter-connected through strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network with channels along [100], [010], [001] and [111]. The diprotonated cations reside in the channels and inter-act with the inorganic framework by extensive N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Bis[2-(hy-droxy-imino-meth-yl)phenolato]nickel(II): a second monoclinic polymorph.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(7)H(6)NO(2))(2)], (I), is a second monoclinic polymorph of the compound, (II), reported by Srivastava et al. [Acta Cryst. (1967), 22, 922] and Mereiter [Private communication (2002) CCDC refcode NISALO01]. The bond lengths and angles are similar in both structures. The mol-ecule in both structures lies on a crystallographic inversion center and both have an inter-nal hydrogen bond. The title compound crystallizes in the space group P2(1)/c (Z = 2), whereas compound (II) is in the space group P2(1)/n (Z = 2) with a similar cell volume but different cell parameters. In both polymorphs, mol-ecules are arranged in the layers but in contrast to the previously published compound (II) where the dihedral angle between the layers is 86.3°, in the title polymorph the same dihedral angle is 29.4°. The structure of (I) is stabilized by strong intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the O-H group and the phenolate O atom.

Project description:The title compound, {(C(2)H(10)N(2))[Cd(2)(HPO(4))(3)]·H(2)O}(n), was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The structure of this hybrid compound consists of CdO(6), CdO(5) and PO(4) polyhedra arranged so as to build an anionic inorganic layer, namely [Cd(2)(HPO(4))(3)](2-), parallel to the ab plane. The edge-sharing CdO(6) octa-hedra form infinite chains running along the a axis and are linked by CdO(5) and PO(4) polyhedra. The ethyl-ene-diammonium cation and the water mol-ecule are located between two adjacent inorganic layers and ensure the cohesion of the structure via N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The structure contains mono- and diprotonated ethyl-enediamine cations, [Mo(5)O(15)(HPO(4))(2)](4-) anions and uncoord-in-ated water mol-ecules. The [Mo(5)O(15)(HPO(4))(2)](4-) hetero-poly-oxometallate anion is made up of five MoO(6) octa-hedra sharing an edge and forming a ring, which is closed by common corners of the terminal MoO(6) octa-hedron. The ring is topped on both sides by two slightly distorted PO(4) tetra-hedra, sharing three corners with three MoO(6) octa-hedra. The terminal oxygen atoms of the PO(4) units are protonated. Together with the anions, the water mol-ecules and the ethyl-enediammonium cations are involved in N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonding, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.
