ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecule, [Sn(C(7)H(6)Cl)(2)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(2)(H(2)O)], the O atoms of the two chelating nicotinate groups and the O atom of the coordinated water mol-ecule comprise the penta-gonal plane of the trans-C(2)SnO(5) penta-gonal-bipyramid [C-Sn-C = 178.62?(11) °] surrounding the Sn(IV) atom. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked by O-H?N hydrogen bonds, generating a chain running along the body diagonal of the triclinic unit cell.

Project description:Two nicotinate binding modes are observed in the dinuclear title compound, [Sn(2)(C(7)H(6)Br)(4)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(4)(H(2)O)(2)]: in the first, a terminal O,O'-chelating molecule binds to a water-coordinated diorganotin cation, while the second mode corresponds to an O:N-bridging molecule which binds to two cations. The two Sn atoms exist in trans-C(2)SnNO(4) penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometries. Adjacent dinuclear units are linked by O-H?N hydrogen bonds, generating a linear chain, which propagates in the b-axis direction. O-H?O inter-actions are also observed.

The asymmetric unit contains two mol-ecules which differ only in the position of the nitro-gen-bound H atom of the triazole ring; one mol-ecule is linked to the other mol-ecule by an N-H⋯N hydrogen bond. In the second mol-ecule, two of the chloro-benzyl units are disordered over two positions in a 0.73 (1):0.27 (1) ratio. The Sn atom in both mol-ecules shows a distorted tetra-hedral SnSC(3) coordination.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Sn(4)(C(7)H(6)Cl)(8)(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)O(2)(OH)(2)], comprises one-half of the centrosymmetric tin(IV) complex. ?(3)-Oxide and ?(2)-hydroxide bridges link the four five-coordinate Sn(IV) atoms to generate three fused four-membered Sn-O-Sn-O rings in a ladder-like structure. The two endocyclic Sn atoms each bind to two ?(3)-oxide anions and a ?(2)-hydroxide ligand, together with two 2-chloro-benzyl groups. The exocyclic Sn atoms each carry a monodentate phenyl-acetate ligand, two 2-chloro-benzyl groups, and ?(3)-oxide and ?(2)-hydroxide ligands. Both types of Sn atoms adopt a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular O-H?O inter-actions involving the ?(2)-hydroxide ligands and the C=O group of the phenyl-acetate ligand.
