ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(17)H(19)N(3)O·CH(3)OH, the hydrazone mol-ecule exists in a trans geometry with respect to the methyl-idene unit and the dihedral angle between the two substituted benzene rings is 42.6?(2)°. In the crystal, the components are linked through N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming [100] chains of alternating hydrazone and methanol mol-ecules.

Project description:The title compound, C(16)H(15)Cl(2)N(3)O(2)·CH(3)OH, a Schiff base molecule, is prepared by the reaction of 3,5-dichloro-salicyl-aldehyde with 4-dimethyl-amino-benzohydrazide in methanol.
