ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Co(C(22)H(18)N(2)O(4))(CN)(H(2)O)]·0.5CH(3)CN, the Co(III) cation is N,N',O,O'-chelated by a 6,6'-dimeth-oxy-2,2'-[1,2-phenyl-enebis(nitrilo-methanylyl-idene)]diphenolate dianion, and is further coordinated by a cyanide anion and a water mol-ecule in the axial sites, completing a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. In the crystal, pairs of bifurcated O-H?(O,O) hydrogen bonds link adjacent mol-ecules, forming centrosymmetric dimers. The acetonitrile solvent mol-ecule shows 0.5 occupancy.

O-H?O hydrogen bonds connect adjacent complex mol-ecules into dimers. C-H?N hydrogen bonds and ?-? inter-actions between the benzene rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.700?(2) and 3.845?(2)?Å] are also present.

Project description:In the title complex, [Co(C(18)H(18)N(2)O(4))(C(2)H(3)O(2))(H(2)O)]·2CH(3)OH, the Co(III) atom is hexa-coordinated by water and acetate groups in the axial positions and by the tetra-dentate Schiff base occupying equatorial positions. These axial bonds are longer than the equatorial bonds to the tetra-dentate Schiff base. Two mol-ecules form a dimer through strong hydrogen bonds from the coordinated water of one mol-ecule to the meth-oxy O atoms of an adjoining mol-ecule. There is extensive intra- and inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonding between the coordinated water and acetate ligands and the methanol solvent mol-ecules. In addition, there are weak inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions, which link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional array.

The -CH(2)-CH(2)- group of the ligand is disordered equally over two sites about the mirror plane. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the two symmetry-related chelate rings is 37.16?(6)°. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link complex mol-ecules into one-dimensional chains along [100] and these chains are linked, in turn, by very weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional network.

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(C(19)H(20)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)], there are two independent mononuclear Cu(II) complexes. The coordination environment of each Cu(II) ion is square-pyramidal completed by two N atoms and two O atoms forming the basal plane, and one O atom of the water mol-ecule occupying the apical position. Neighbouring complexes are connected via O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecule and the meth-oxy group, forming a chain structure along the a axis. The propyl-ene groups of the two independent complexes are disordered over two positions with site occupancies of 0.361?(7):0.639?(7) and 0.224?(8):0.776?(8). The crystal under investigation was a partial inversion twin.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(22)H(18)N(2)O(4))]·2CH(2)Cl(2), was isolated from the reaction of N,N'(o-phenyl-ene)bis-(vanillalimine) (H(2)L) with Co(SCN)(2). The crystal structure contains a Co(II) ion surrounded by the L(2-) ligand in a slightly distorted square-planar fashion. Inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen-bonding contacts between the dichloro-methane solvent mol-ecules and the meth-oxy or carboxyl-ate O atoms are observed in the crystal structure. The planar complex mol-ecules stack through inversion related ?-? inter-actions between the six-membered rings of the vanillalimine half ligands. The distance between centroids is 3.498?(2)?Å and the perpendicular distance is 3.345?Å. A partial stacking is observed with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.830?(2)?Å, a perpendicular distance of 3.350?Å and a slippage of 1.856?Å.
