Catena-Poly[[[bis-[μ-3-(4-carb-oxy-phen-oxy)propionato]-κO,O:O;κO:O,O-bis-[aqua-(N,N-dimethyl-formamide-κO)cadmium]]-μ-4,4'-bipyridine-κN:N'] dinitrate].

ABSTRACT: In the title coordination polymer, {[Cd(2)(C(10)H(9)O(5))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(C(3)H(7)NO)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(2)}(n), the 3-(4-carb-oxy-phen-oxy)propionate monoanion O,O'-chelates to a Cd(II) cation through the aliphatic carboxyl-ate end. One of these O atoms is also connected to the metal cation from an inversion-related metal atom. The five O atoms bonded to the metal centre form a penta-gon, above and below which are located the N atoms of the 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules. The polycationic ribbon propagates along the b axis of the unit cell. The (aromatic) carboxyl end of the monoanion connects adjacent ribbons into a layer motif in the (102) plane. The nitrate ions are hydrogen bonded to the layer. The geometry of the Cd(II) atom is a trans-N(2)O(5)Cd penta-gonal bipyramid.

Each Pr(III) ion is nine-coordinated by one 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecule, one bidentate carboxyl-ate group and four bridging carboxyl-ate groups in a distorted PrN(2)O(7) monocapped square-anti-prismatic geometry. The title compound is isotypic with its terbium- and dysprosium-containing analogues.

Project description:The coordination polymer [Zn(2)(C(10)H(8)O(5))(2)(H(2)O)(3)](n) adopts a layer structure in which the two independent Zn(II) ions exist in trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometries. One carboxyl-ate dianion binds to a monoaqua-coordinated metal ion through the aliphatic carboxyl-ate end and to the diaqua-coordinated metal ion through the aromatic carboxyl-ate end; the other dianion binds in the reverse manner. Three of the four carboxyl-ate ends of the two dianions are also engaged in bridging inter-actions; these lead to a layer structure parallel to (100). Adjacent layers are linked by O-H(water)⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title salt, [Mn(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)][Mn(2)(C(8)H(3)O(7)S)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O, consists of mononuclear manganese(II) cations, dinuclear manganate(II) dianions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The dianion is located about an inversion center; the Mn(II) atom is coordinated by a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, a sulfonatoisophthalate group, a water mol-ecule along with two bridging water mol-ecules in an octa-hedral geometry. The cation lies on a twofold rotation axis; the Mn(II) atom is coordinated by four water mol-ecules and a chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. A partially overlapped arrangement between the bipyridine ligands and the aromatic ring of the sulfoisophthalate group of adjacent anions is observed; the distance (3.357 Å) indicates π-π stacking. Hydrogen bonds, with the water mol-ecules serving as hydrogen-bond donors, lead to a three-dimensional network architecture.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Zn(C(8)H(7)O(3))(2)(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)], contains three crystallographically independent mol-ecules with similar configurations. The Zn(II) cation is coordinated by two N atoms of two nicotinamide ligands and three O atoms from two 4-meth-oxy-benzoate anions in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. In each independent mol-ecule, one Zn-O bond distance [2.5181 (12), 2.5931 (12) and 2.4085 (12) Å for the three mol-ecules] is significantly longer than the other two. In the crystal structure, extensive N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding links the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. π-π contacts between the pyridine rings and between the pyridine and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7655 (9) and 3.8453 (10) Å, respectively] further stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(NO(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), the five-coordinated Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal CuN(4)O environment; the O atom is in the axial position whereas the N atoms from two bipyridine (bipy) ligands are in the equatorial plane. In the crystal, mol-ecules are assembled by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and π-π inter-actions between bipy groups [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7686 (16) and 3.7002 (16) Å] into a three-dimensional network. Each Cu(II) atom displays an elongted square-pyramidal CuN(2)O(3) coordination geometry with a slight tetra-hedral distortion in the basal plane. The dimeric units are linked into a three-dimensional network by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title complex, [Cd(2)(NO(3))(4)(C(24)H(16)N(6))(CH(4)O)(2)], displays a centrosymmetric dinuclear structure, in which the 2,3,5,6-tetra-2-pyridinylpyrazine (tppz) ligand links two Cd ions separated by 7.323 (4) Å. Each Cd(II) center is seven-coordinated by three N-atom donors of tppz in one plane, by two O atoms nearly normal to this plane, and by two O atoms 0.393 (3) and 0.488 (3) Å from that plane. The two Cd(II) ions are above and below the plane of the pyrazine ring of the tppz ligand, oriented with respect to the pyridine rings at dihedral angles of 38.01 (3) and 31.90 (3)°. The dihedral angle between the two pyridine rings is 41.11 (3)°. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules.

Each Fe(III) ion has an approximate octa-hedral geometry, coordinated by four N atoms from two phen mol-ecules, two O atoms from oxide and sulfate anions, respectively. The parallel phen mol-ecules form two-dimensional supermolecules through π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.684 (3), 3.711 (3), 3.790 (3), 3.847 (3), 3.746 (3), 3.732 (3) and 3.729 (3) Å]. This architecture is further stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the lattice water mol-ecules and sulfate O atoms.
