Tris(1,10-phenanthroline-?(2)N,N')iron(II) bis-[(1,10-phenanthroline-?(2)N,N')tetra-kis-(thio-cyanato-?N)chromate(III)] acetonitrile tris-olvate monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: Single crystals of the title heterometallic compound, [Fe(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)][Cr(NCS)(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))](2)·3CH(3)CN·H(2)O or [Fe(Cphen)(3)][Cr(NCS)(4)(phen)](2)·3CH(3)CN·H(2)O, were pre-pared using the one-pot open-air reaction of iron powder, Reineckes salt and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) in acetonitrile. The asymetric unit consists of an [Fe(phen)(3)](2+) cation, two [Cr(phen)(NCS)(4)](-) anions, three acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules and a water mol-ecule. The Fe and Cr atoms both show a slightly distorted octa-hedral FeN(6) and CrN(6) coordination geometry with adjacent angles in the range 79.67?(12)-95.21?(12)°. No classical hydrogen bonding involving the water molecule is observed.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Zn(NCS)(C(12)H(7)ClN(2))(2)][Zn(NCS)(3)(C(12)H(7)ClN(2))], contains two cations and two anions. In the cations, the Zn(II) ions have distorted trigonal-bipyramidal environments formed by four N atoms from two 2-chloro-1,10-phenanthroline (cphen) ligands and one N atom from a thio-cyanate ligand. The Zn(II) atoms in the complex anions also have distorted trigonal-bipyramidal environments, formed by two N atoms from a cphen ligand and three N atoms from three thio-cyanato ligands. The crystal packing exhibits π-π inter-actions between the rings of the cphen ligands [shortest centroid-centroid distance = 3.586 (5) Å] and short inter-molecular S⋯Cl [3.395 (5) Å] and S⋯S [3.440 (4) Å] contacts.

The asymmetric unit consists of one Fe(III) cation, six thio-cyanate anions, three 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridinium cations and one water mol-ecule, all of them located in general positions.

Project description:The title copper(I) salt, (C(15)H(14)N(2))[Cu(NCS)(3)], exists as non-inter-acting cations and trigonal-planar anions. The cation is buckled, the r.m.s. deviation of the atoms passing through the phenanthroline portion being 0.16 Å. The Cu(I) atom is displaced by 0.019 (2) Å out of the N(3) triangle. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin with twin domains in an approximate ratio of 55:45.

Project description:The ionic title complex, [Cu(C(4)H(13)N(3))(2)](2)[Cr(NCS)(4)(NH(3))(2)](3)(NCS)·14C(2)H(6)OS·H(2)O, consists of complex [Cu(dien)(2)](2+) cations [dien is N-(2-amino-eth-yl)ethane-1,2-diamine], com-plex [Cr(NCS)(4)(NH(3))(2)](-) anions, an NCS(-) counter-anion and uncoordinated dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and water solvent mol-ecules. One of the Cr atoms lies on an inversion center, while the second Cr atom and the Cu atom lie in general positions. The thio-cyanate counter-anion and water mol-ecule are disordered over two positions close to an inversion center. There are several types of hydrogen-bond inter-actions present in the title compound, which connect the complex cations and anions into bulky [Cu(2)Cr(3)] polynuclear species. The four NH(3) groups of the complex anions and six bridging DMSO O atoms link the three complex anions via hydrogen bonding into the anionic polynuclear species [Cr(NCS)(4)(NH(3))(2)](3)·6DMSO. The last one is connected by four bridging DMSO O atoms with the two complex copper cations through N-H? O hydrogen bonds between the terminal NH(3) groups of the anionic polynuclear species and the NH and NH(2) groups of the dien ligand. One additional DMSO mol-ecule is connected via hydrogen bonding to one of the terminal NH(3) groups of the anionic polynuclear species. Another DMSO mol-ecule is connected via hydrogen bonding to each Cu(dien)(2)](2+) cation.

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(NCS)(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], has been obtained from the decomposition reaction of dithio-oxamide in a dimethyl-formamide solution containing 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and Cd(NO(3))(2)·4H(2)O. Its crystal structure is formed by monuclear Cd(II) entities in which the metal atom is sited on a twofold rotation axis. The Cd(II) atom is six-coordinated in the form of a distorted octa-hedron by two chelating phenanthroline mol-ecules and two thio-cyanate anions coordinated through their N atoms. In the crystal, C-H?N hydrogen bonds are established between the phenanthroline and thio-cyanate ligands of neighbouring complexes.

Project description:The title compound, [Mg(NCS)(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], has been synthesized from the hydro-thermal reaction of MgCl(2), KSCN, 1,10-phenanthroline and H(2)O. Its structure is isotypic with the Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) analogues. Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Hg(SCN)(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))], contains two complex mol-ecules in which the Hg(II) atoms are both four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral configuration by two N atoms from a chelating 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline ligand and by two S atoms from two thio-cyanate anions. The 1,10-phenanthroline ligand is slightly folded for one complex, the dihedral angle between the pyridine planes being 5.3?(1)°. In contrast it is nearly planar [0.5?(1)°] as it complexes with the other Hg(II) atom. The thio-cyanate ligands are virtually linear and the S atom is bonded to Hg(II) with N?S-Hg angles ranging from 99.3?(1) to 103.5?(1)°. Despite the presence of six aromatic rings in the asymmetric unit, there are no significant inter-molecular ?-? contacts between phenanthroline ligands as the centroid-centroid distance of the closest contact between six-membered rings is 4.11?(1) A°.
