ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Pt(C(15)H(11)N(4)O)Cl(3)]·CH(3)CN, the Pt(IV) ion adopts a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry defined by a tridentate cyclo-metalated NCN ligand and three Cl atoms. In the crystal, individual mol-ecules are aggregated into a three-dimensional network by C-H?Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions and ?-? stacking inter-actions between the tridentate ligands, the shortest ring centroid-centroid distance being 3.613?Å.

Project description:The title compound, (C7H10NO)[SnCl3], is a new compound with non-linear optical (NLO) properties. The structure is pseudocentrosymmetric; the absence of an inversion centre was proved by the Kurtz and Perry method showing a significant second harmonic generation (SHG) signal about ten times lower than that from potassium dihydrogenphosphate. The crystal structure exhibits alternating organic and inorganic layers parallel to the ab plane, which are stabilized by inter-molecular N-H⋯Cl inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Sn(C(20)H(19)N(2)O(3))Cl(3)], the Sn(IV) ion is surrounded by a tridentate monoanionic Schiff base and by three meridional chloride ions in a six-coordinated distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Sn-Cl bond [2.366 (2) Å] trans to nitro-gen is shorter than the others [2.438 (2) and 2.414 (2) Å]. The N-Sn-N angle [76.19 (11)°] is smaller than the O-Sn-N angle [87.89 (10)°] in the Schiff base ligand. No classical inter-molecular hydrogen-bonding inter-actions are observed. The crystal packing exhibits π-π stacking inter-actions, with a distance of 3.595 (2) Å between the centroids of the phenolate ring and the benzene ring of the quinoline group of inversion-related mol-ecules.

The neutral N,N',N''-tridentate ligand adopts a fac coordination mode, and chloride ligands lie trans to each of the three coordinated N atoms. In the crystal, the complexes form columns extending parallel to the approximate local threefold axes of the FeN(3)Cl(3) octa-hedra, and the columns are arranged so that the uncoordinated nitrile groups align in an anti-parallel manner and the pyridyl rings form offset face-to-face arrangements [inter-planar separations = 2.95?(1) and 3.11?(1)?Å; centroid-centroid distances = 5.31?(1) and 4.92?(1)?Å]. The methanol solvent mol-ecule is disordered about a twofold rotation axis.

Project description:The title compound, C(8)H(11)N(2)O(+)·C(9)H(9)O(4) (-), was synthesized by the reaction of 4-meth-oxy-benzamidine (4-amidino-anisole) and 2,6-dimeth-oxy-benzoic acid. The structure consists of non-planar pairs of hydrogen-bonded 4-meth-oxy-benzamidinium cations and 2,6-dimeth-oxy-benzoate anions. In the cation, the amidinium group is tilted by 27.94 (10)° with respect to the benzene ring. In the anion, the sterically bulky ortho-meth-oxy substituents force the carb-oxy-ate group to be twisted away from the plane of the benzene ring by 73.24 (6)°. The ions are further associated in the crystal into chains along the b-axis direction by inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

The Cl atoms are cis with respect to each other. The compound displays inter- and intra-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding.
