4-(Di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium trichlorido[4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridine-κN]cobaltate(II).

ABSTRACT: In the anion of the title compound, (C7H11N2)[CoCl3(C7H10N2)], the Co(II) ion is coordinated by one N atom from a 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridine (DMAP) ligand and three Cl atoms, forming a CoNCl3 polyhedron with a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. In the crystal, cations and anions are linked via weak N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. Double layers of complex anions stack along the b- axis direction, which alternate with double layers of 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium cations.

Project description:The reaction of a cobalt(II) salt with 4-(dimethyl-amino)pyridinium hydro-bromide perbromide yielded the title compound, (C(7)H(11)N(2))[CoBr(3)(C(7)H(9.1)Br(0.9)N(2))]. In the anion, the Co(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry by three Br atoms and the pyridine N atom of a bromine-substituted 4-(dimethyl-amino)pyridine mol-ecule, whose formation probably results from an incomplete substitution (90%) catalysed by the Co(II) ion. One of the three bromine atoms bonded to the metal is disordered over two sites in a 0.9:0.1 ratio. An N-H⋯Br hydrogen bond connects the cation and anion.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Hg(2)Cl(4)(C(6)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Hg(II) ion is four-coordinated by one pyridine N atom from a 2-amino-4-methyl-pyridine ligand, one terminal Cl atom and two bridging Cl atoms. A distorted tetra-hedral geometry is formed around each Hg(II) ion. The crystal packing is stabilized by intra- and inter-molecular N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding. There are also π-π stacking inter-actions in the structure, with centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.594 (6) Å.

Each of the Zn atoms assumes an approximately square-pyramidal environment, with four O atoms in a plane and the pyridine N atom at the apical site.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, (C7H11N2)2[CuCl4], comprises half a tetrahedral tetra-chlorido-cuprate anion, being located on a twofold axis, and a protonated 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridine cation. The geometry around the Cu(II) ion is highly distorted with the range of Cl-Cu-Cl angles being 94.94 (1)-141.03 (1)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. In the three-dimensional network, cations and anions pack in the lattice so as to generate chains of [CuCl4](2-) anions separated by two orientations of cation layers, which are inter-locked through π-π stacking contacts between pairs of pyridine rings, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.7874 (7) Å.

Project description:The whole mol-ecule of the title compound, [Mn(NCS)2(CH3OH)2(C5H6N2)2], is generated by inversion symmetry. The Mn(II) ion, which is located on an inversion center, is coordinated by two 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridine ligands, two methanol ligands and two terminally N-bonded thio-cyanate anions, forming a slightly distorted octa-hedron. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, forming chains extending along the a-axis direction.

Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of bis-(2,6-di-amino-pyridinium) tetra-chlorido-cobaltate(II).

Project description:In the title mol-ecular salt, (C5H8N3)2[CoCl4], the cations are protonated at their pyridine N atoms and the anion is an almost regular tetra-hedron. The crystal structure consists of alternating inorganic layers, built from tetra-chlorido-cobaltate anions, and organic layers formed by protonated cations of 2,6-di-amino-pyridinium. The crystal packing is governed by C/N-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the organic and the inorganic ions and Cl⋯Cl inter-actions. Moreover, the cations show a π-π stacking inter-action [inter-centroid distance = 3.763 (2) Å]. The prevalence of these inter-actions is illustrated by an analysis of the three-dimensional Hirshfeld surface and by two-dimensional fingerprint plots.

For charge balance, two 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine counter cations are present, which do not coordinate to the metal cation. The asymmetric unit consists of one manganese(II) cation, four thio-cyanate anions and two 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridine ligands, as well as two protonated 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridinium cations. The discrete complex anions are connected to the non-coordinating pyridinium cations by weak N-H⋯S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, [CoCl(2)(C(9)H(16)N(2)Si)(2)], the Co(II) atom is located on an inversion center in a slightly distorted tetra-hedral environment formed by two chloride ions and the pyridine N atoms of two chelating 6-methyl-2-[(trimethyl-silyl)amino]pyridine ligands. The dihedral angle between the planes of the pyridine rings is 80.06 (5)°. Cohesion within the crystal structure is accomplished by N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.
