ABSTRACT: In the centrosymmetric binuclear title complex, [Ag2(NO3)2(C11H8Cl2N4)2]·2CH3CN, the Ag(I) atom is four-coordinated and exhibits a highly distorted tetrahedral coordination sphere defined by three N atoms from two 1-(3,5-di-chloro-pyridin-2-yl)-2-(pyridin-3-yl-methyl-idene)hy-drazine ligands and one O atom from a nitrate anion. Inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds link the complex mol-ecules, resulting in a two-dimensional supra-molecular structure parallel to (001).

Project description:In the centrosymmetric binuclear title compound, [Cu(2)Br(2)(C(12)H(10)N(5)S)(2)]·2CH(3)OH, the Cu(II) ion adopts a slightly dis-torted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The hydrazine carbothio-amide moiety and one of the pyridyl rings together adopt an almost planar arrangement, with a maximum deviation of 0.052?(4)?Å for the C atom of the thio-urea moiety. There are two mol-ecules of methanol solvent per complex in the asymmetric unit. The nonconventional intra-molecular C-H?Br hydrogen bonds make the mol-ecule more rigid, whereas the conventional N-H?N and O-H?Br inter-molecular hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, supported with N-H?? inter-actions, establish a supra-molecular linkage among the mol-ecules in the crystal. An intermolecular C-H?O inter-action is also present.

Project description:The search for novel manganese(II) compounds having inter-esting magnetic properties, using 1-(pyridin-2-yl)-2-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-idene)hydrazine (HL) as a tridendate ligand, led to the preparation of the title mononuclear material, [MnCl(NO3)(C11H10N4)(H2O)], and the determination of its structure by XRD. The asymmetric unit comprises a discrete mol-ecule in which the cation MnII is hepta-coordinated. The environment around the cation is an almost perfect penta-gonal bipyramid. The base is defined by the two N atoms of the pyridine rings, the N atom of the imino function of the ligand and the two O atoms of the chelating bidentate nitrate ligand. The apical positions are occupied by a Cl atom and a water mol-ecule. In the crystal, there are numerous hydrogen bonds of the types Ow-H⋯ONO2 and C-H⋯ONO2, which generate layers parallel to the bc plane in which the ligands in the axial positions point into the inter-layer space. These axial ligands give rise to hydrogen bonds of the types Ow-H⋯ONO2, Ow-H⋯Cl, N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl, leading to a three-dimensional framework. The chain bridging the two pyridine rings is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.53 (2):0.47 (2) ratio.

Project description:The title compound, [Zn3(C14H11Br2N2O)4](ClO4)2·2CH3CN, crystallizes as a symmetrical trinuclear cation with all three metal atoms being located on a twofold rotation axis. It contains a tetra-hedral ZnII atom that bridges two six-coordinate ZnII atoms. The complex contains N- and O-donor atoms of four tridentate 2,4-di-bromo-6-{[2-(pyridin-2-yl)eth-yl]imino-meth-yl}phenolate ligands. The ratio of ZnII atoms to ligands is 3:4. The two terminal ZnII cations adopt distorted octa-hedral geometries and the central ZnII cation adopts a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. In the cation there are ?-? inter-actions between the di-bromo-phenyl rings, as well as halogen-bonding inter-actions between the di-bromo-phenyl rings in the cation, which stabilize its conformation. In addition, there are C-H?O inter-actions between the anions and both the cations and solvent mol-ecules as well as C-H?N inter-actions between the cation and solvent mol-ecules. These inter-species inter-actions link the cations, anions and solvent mol-ecules into a complex three-dimensional array.

The Cu(II) atom shows a square-pyramidal coordination geometry and is bonded to four N atoms of the two bis-chelating 3,5-bis-(2-pyrid-yl)pyrazol-ate ions (bpypz(-)) and one O atom of the hydrogensulfate ion. The bpypz(-) ligands in the complex mol-ecule are virtually coplanar [dihedral angle between the mean ligand planes = 0.000(1)°] with the Cu(II) atom deviating in opposite directions from their best plane by 0.2080?(12)?Å. ?-? stacking inter-actions between the pyridyl and pyrazole rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.391?(3)?Å] and strong O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the hydrogensulfate ligands and the methanol mol-ecules assemble the mol-ecules into a one-dimensional polymeric structure extending along the a axis. The methanol mol-ecule acts both as an accepter and a donor in the hydrogen bonding.
