Project description:The title benzyl Grignard reagent, [Mg(2)Br(2)(C(7)H(7))(2)(C(4)H(10)O)(2)], was obtained by reaction of benzyl bromide with magnesium in diethyl ether, followed by crystallization from toluene. The asymmetric unit comprises one half-mol-ecule, the structural dimeric unit being generated by inversion symmetry with an Mg?Mg distance of 3.469?(2)?Å. The Mg(II) atom exhibits a distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry. The crystal packing is defined by van der Waals inter-actions only.

Project description:There are two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C20H14Br2N2. In the first, the dihedral angles between the mean plane of the benzimidazole group and those of the 4-bromo-benzyl and 4-chloro-phenyl groups are 50.72?(17) and 71.29?(16)°, respectively, while the corresponding angles in the second mol-ecule are 42.09?(16) and 89.05?(17)°. The 4-bromo-benzyl and 4-bromo-phenyl groups make an angle of 68.1?(2) and 85.1?(21)° with each other in the two mol-ecules. In the crystal, weak C-H?N and C-H?Br hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules along the c-axis direction. Br?Br inter-actions [3.5733?(9)Å] are also observed.

Project description:The title compounds, C23H25Br2NO2 (1) and C31H29BrN2O4 (2), crystallize in the space group P21/n with two (1-A and 1-B) and one mol-ecules, respectively, in the asymmetric unit of the cell. The mol-ecular conformation of these compounds is stabilized by intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯N or C-H⋯π inter-actions. The crystal structure of 1 features a relatively strong Br⋯O=C halogen bond, which is not observed in the case of 2. Both crystal structures are characterized by the presence of C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds and numerous inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

The planes of the phthalimido groups are inclined at 77.0?(1), 63.0?(1) and 77.8?(1)° with respect to the benzene ring. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by C-H?O and C-H?Br hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure features non-classical hydrogen bonds of the C-H?N, C-H?O and C-H?Br type, leading to a three-dimensional cross-linking of molecules. The pattern of non-covalent inter-molecular bonding is completed by O?Br halogen bonds [3.306?(3)?Å], which link the receptor mol-ecules into infinite strands extending along the a-axis direction.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, C(17)H(17)BrN(2)O, the central phenyl and imidazol-2-one rings are coplanar (dihedral angle between planes of 0.73?(11)°). The angles subtended by the substituents on the N atoms of the imidazol-2-one ring range from 109.71?(14)° to 128.53?(15) due to steric hindrance of these substituents with the phenyl H atoms. In the crystal, weak π-π face-to-face aromatic inter-actions are observed [centroid-centroid distance between two adjacent (but crystallographically different) phenyl rings = 3.885 (5) Å], providing some packing stability. The differences in the two cations are reflected in the N-C-C-C torsion angles [-94.7?(3) and -115.9?(3)°]. In addition, the cations show different hydrogen-bonding patterns as one N atom bonds to two O atoms of ClO(4) (-) ions, while the other N atom is involved in hydrogen bonding with the O atoms of the ClO(4) (-) ions and water mol-ecules. In the crystal, N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds result in a three-dimensional network. An O atom in each of the anions is disordered over two positions of equal occupancy.
