Crystal structure of catena-poly[[tetra-aqua-magnesium]-μ-(di-hydrogen hypodiphosphato)-κ(2) O:O'].

ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the title compound, [Mg(H2P2O6)(H2O)4] n , is built up from (H2P2O6)(2-) anions bridging Mg(2+) cations into chains extending parallel to [011]. The Mg(2+) ion is located on an inversion centre and is octa-hedrally coordinated by the O atoms of two (H2P2O6)(2-) anions and four water mol-ecules. The centrosymmetric (H2P2O6)(2-) anion has a staggered conformation whereby the tetra-valent phospho-rus atom is surrounded tetra-hedrally by three O atoms and by one symmetry-related P atom. A three-dimensional O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonded network of medium strength involving the P-OH group of the anion and the water mol-ecules is present.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, {[Sm(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]Cl}(n), the unique Sm(III) atom lies on a crystallographic twofold axis and is eight-coordinated by four O atoms from four isonicotinate ligands and four water mol-ecules in a slightly distorted square-anti-prismatic coodination environment. The Sm(III) atoms are bridged by two carboxyl-ate groups of two isonicotinate ligands, forming an extended chain along the c-axis direction. These chains are cross-linked through hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional framework, with channels which accommodate the chloride anions.

Project description:The title coordination polymer, {[Li2(C8H2N2O8)(H2O)2]·2.5H2O} n , is built up from mol-ecular ribbons propagating in the c-axis direction of the ortho-rhom-bic unit cell; the ligand bridges two Li(+) ions using both its N,O,O'-bonding sites and adjacent Li(+) ions are bridged by pairs of water mol-ecules. The coordination geometry of the metal ion is distorted trigonal bipyramidal, with the ligand O atoms in the axial sites. Two of the carboxyl-ate groups of the ligand remain protonated and form short symmetric O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, the ribbons inter-act via a network of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds in which coordinating water mol-ecules act as donors and carboxyl-ate O atoms within adjacent ribbons act as acceptors, giving rise to a three-dimensional framework. O-H⋯N inter-actions are also observed. The asymmetric unit contains quarter of the ligand and the complete ligand has 2/m symmetry; the Li(+) ion lies on a special position with m.. site symmetry. Both bridging water mol-ecules have m2m site symmetry and both lattice water mol-ecules have m.. site symmetry; one of the latter was modelled with a site occupancy of 0.25.

Project description:The title compound, [CuEu(2)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(8)(H(2)O)(4)](n), displays a one-dimensional chain structure. The four-coordinate Cu(II) ion (site symmetry ) adopts a trans-CuN(2)O(2) geometry and is bridged by two carboxyl-ate groups from two isonicotinate ligands. The Eu(III) ion adopts a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry, being coordinated by four O atoms from bridging carboxyl-ate groups of four isonicotinate ligands, two O atoms from chelating carboxyl-ate groups of one isonicotinate ligand and two O atoms from coordinated water mol-ecules; adjacent Eu(III) ions in the chain are related by inversion. The water mol-ecules interact with the ligands via O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds [O⋯O = 2.782 (3)-2.881 (3) Å], which link the chains into a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The structure of the title polymer, }[Mg(C6H14N2O6P2)(H2O)4]·0.5H2O} n , is based on centrosymmetric MgO6 octahedra, which are linked by [(piperazine-1,4-diium-1,4-di-yl)bis-(methyl-ene)]di-phospho-nate ligands, forming chains parallel to [1-1-1]. These chains are connected via hydrogen bonds primarily formed between the phospho-nate groups and water mol-ecules. The latter constitute four of the corners of the MgO6 polyhedra and bind to the O atoms of the phospho-nate groups of neighbouring chains. The lattice water molecule is disordered around an inversion centre, exhibiting an occupancy of 0.25.

Project description:The title compound, [K(C(6)H(4)N(5))(H(2)O)(2)](n), was synthesized by hydro-thermal reaction of KOH with 4-(5-tetra-zolio)pyridine. The K atom has a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment and is coordinated by two axial N atoms from the organic ligand and by four water mol-ecules in the equatorial plane. The mol-ecules as a whole are located on crystallographic mirror planes; the K atom is also located on an inversion center. Both the water mol-ecules and the organic ligands act as bridges to link symmetrically the adjacent K atoms into polymeric chains parallel to the c axis. O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the water O atoms and aromatic ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance 3.80?(2)?Å] between the pyridine and tetra-zole rings build up an infinite three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title one-dimensional polymeric compound, {[Co(C10H11O2)2(H2O)3]·2H2O} n , contains one CoII cation situated on a centre of inversion, one-half of a coordinating water mol-ecule, one 2,4,6-tri-methyl-benzoate (TMB) anion together with one coordinating and one non-coordinating water mol-ecule; the TMB anion acts as a monodentate ligand. In the anion, the carboxyl-ate group is twisted away from the attached benzene ring by 84.9 (2)°. The CoII atom is coordinated by two TMB anions and two water mol-ecules in the basal plane, while another water mol-ecule bridges the CoII atoms in the axial directions, forming polymeric chains running along [001]. The coordination environment for the CoII cation is a slightly distorted octa-hedron. The coordinating and bridging water mol-ecules link to the carboxyl-ate groups via intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, enclosing S(6) ring motifs, while the coordinating, bridging and non-coordinating water mol-ecules link to the carboxyl-ate groups and the coordinating water mol-ecules link to the non-coordinating water mol-ecules via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, enclosing R22(8) and R33(8) ring motifs. Weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions may further stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the polymeric title compound, {[Mn(2)(SO(4))(2)(C(30)H(36)N(6))(H(2)O)(2)]·6H(2)O}(n), the two Mn(2+) ions are bridged by two sulfate anions to form dinuclear complexes, and these dinuclear species are linked by the hexa-dentate ligand N,N,N',N'-tetra-kis(2-pyridylmeth-yl)hexane-1,6-diamine (tphn), forming a one-dimensional chain structure running in the [101] direction. The repeat unit of the polymer, Mn(2)(SO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)(tphn), is disposed about a twofold axis passing through the centre of the dinuclear unit. The coordination geometry around the Mn centre is distorted octa-hedral. Two methylene groups are each disordered equally over two positions.

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), is a new coordination polymer of benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate with cadmium(II) and 1,10-phenanthroline. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecule, three O atoms from two crystallographically independent benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and the O atom of a coordinated water mol-ecule, forming a heavily distorted octa-hedron. The 1,10-phenanthroline ligand is approximately planar within 0.073 (4) Å. The two different benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands each coordinate to two Cd(II) ions in bidentate and monodentate modes, forming an infinite zigzag chain. Adjacent chains are packed tightly by strong π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.851 (2) and 3.859 (2) Å] between the aromatic rings of the benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligand and the 1,10-phenanthroline of a neighboring chain, forming a sheet parallel to (011). Different sheets are linked together via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecules and the O atoms of the carboxyl-ate groups, forming a three-dimensional network.

In the chain, the crystallographically unique Cd(II) atom, with a distorted octa-hedral geometry, is coordinated by five Cl(-) ions and one water mol-ecule. Intra-chain O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding between the cations and the anionic chains consolidate the crystal packing.
