Crystal structure of di-?-isobutyrato-?(4) O:O'-bis-[cis-di-chlorido-(dimethyl sulfoxide-?S)rhenium(III)].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Re2(C3H7COO)2Cl4{(CH3)2SO}2], comprises binuclear complex mol-ecules [Re-Re = 2.24502?(13)?Å] involving cis-oriented double carboxyl-ate bridges, four equatorial chloride ions and two weakly bonded O atoms from dimethyl sulfoxide ligands in the axial positions at the Re(III) atoms. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into corrugated layers parallel to (101) by very weak C-H?Cl and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. C-H?Cl hydrogen bonding provides the links between layers to consolidate a three-dimensional framework.

In the equatorial plane of the uranyl unit there are two O atoms from non-adjacent dimethyl sulfoxides and three chloride ions (of which two chlorides are bridging). Project description:The SnIV atom in the title diorganotin compound, [Sn(C7H6F)2Cl2(C2H6OS)2], is located on a centre of inversion, resulting in the C2Cl2O2 donor set having an all-trans disposition of like atoms. The coordination geometry approximates an octa-hedron. The crystal features C-H?F, C-H?Cl and C-H?? inter-actions, giving rise to a three-dimensional network. The respective influences of the Cl?H/H?Cl and F?H/H?F contacts to the mol-ecular packing are clearly evident from the analysis of the Hirshfeld surface.

Project description:The reaction of di-chlorido-tetra-kis-(dimethyl sulfoxide)-ruthen-ium(II) with N,N-bis[(pyridin-2-yl)meth-yl]methyl-amine aff-ords the title complex, [RuCl2(C13H15N3)(C2H6OS)]. The asymmetric unit contains a well-ordered complex mol-ecule. The N,N-bis-[(pyridin-2-yl)meth-yl]methyl-amine (bpma) ligand binds the cation through its two pyridyl N atoms and one aliphatic N atom in a facial manner. The coordination sphere of the low-spin d (6) Ru(II) is distorted octahedral. The dimethyl sulfoxide (dmso) ligand coordinates to the cation through its S atom and is cis to the aliphatic N atom. The two chloride ligands occupy the remaining sites. The bpma ligand is folded with the dihedral angle between the mean planes passing through its two pyridine rings being 64.55?(8)°. The two N-Ru-N bite angles of the ligand at 81.70?(7) and 82.34?(8)° illustrate the distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry of the Ru(II) cation. Two neighboring molecules are weakly associated through mutual intermolecular hydrogen bonding involving the O atom and one of the methyl groups of the dmso ligand. One of the chloride ligands is also weakly hydrogen bonded to a pyridyl H atom of another molecule.

Project description:The reaction between IrCl3·xH2O in methanol led to the formation of small amounts of the title compound, [Ir2Cl6(CH3OH)4]·2H2O, which consists of two IrCl4O2 octa-hedra sharing an edge via chloride bridges. The mol-ecule lies across an inversion center. Each octa-hedron can be envisioned as being comprised of four chloride ligands in the equatorial plane with methanol ligands in the axial positions. A lattice water mol-ecule is strongly hydrogen-bonded to the coordinating methanol ligands and weak inter-actions with coordinating chloride ligands lead to the formation of a three-dimensional network. This is a surprising structure given that, while many reactions of iridium chloride hydrate are carried out in alcoholic solvents, especially methanol and ethanol, this is the first structure of a chloridoiridium compound with only methanol ligands.

The structure is based on a trinuclear {Fe3(?-O)4} core, with an angular arrangement of the FeIII ions that can be explained by the geometrical restrictions of two bulky ligands, each coordinating to all of the metal cations.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dimeric title complex, [Fe(2)(C(14)H(10)N(2)O(4))(2)Cl(2)(C(2)H(6)OS)(2)]·2C(2)H(6)OS, two {Fe(L)Cl(DMSO)} units (L is the tridentate ligand 4-nitro-2-{[2-(oxidometh-yl)phen-yl]imino-meth-yl}phenolate; DMSO is dimethyl sulfoxide) are bridged by two O atoms, with an Fe?Fe separation of 3.1838?(8)?Å. The coordination polyhedron of the Fe(III) atoms can be described as distorted octa-hedral, with four Fe-O, one Fe-N and one Fe-Cl coordination bonds. The L ligand is not planar, the dihedral angle between the 2-(oxidometh-yl)phen-yl]imino and 4-nitro-2-(imino-meth-yl)phenolate planes being 48.54?(9)°. The solvent DMSO molecule is disordered over two orientations with equal occupancy.
