Crystal structure of catena-poly[N,N,N',N'-tetra-methyl-guanidinium [(chlorido-cadmate)-di-?-chlorido]].

ABSTRACT: In the structure of the title salt, {(C5H14N3)[CdCl3]} n , the Cd(II) atom of the complex anion is five-coordinated by one terminal and four bridging Cl atoms. The corresponding coordination polyhedron is a distorted trigonal bipyramid, with Cd-Cl distances in the range 2.4829?(4)-2.6402?(4)?Å. The bipyramids are condensed into a polyanionic zigzag chain extending parallel to [101]. The tetra-methyl-guanidinium cations are situated between the polyanionic chains and are linked to them through N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, forming a layered network parallel to (010).

In the structure of the title salt, {(C5H14N3)[CdCl3]} n , the Cd(II) atom of the complex anion is five-coordinated by one terminal and four bridging Cl atoms. The bridging Cl atoms and the bridging H(2)mbdpz ligands connect the Cu atoms to build up an extended one-dimensional chain. The chains are further connected through N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds to build up a two-dimensional layer in the (011) plane. An inversion centre lies between every pair of adjacent Cu atoms.

Adjacent Cd ions are inter-connected alternately by paired Cl(-) bridges to generate an infinite one-dimensional coordination chain along the b axis. In the chain, the crystallographically unique Cd(II) atom, with a distorted octa-hedral geometry, is coordinated by five Cl(-) ions and one water mol-ecule. Intra-chain O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding between the cations and the anionic chains consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:The title compound, {(C7H6NS)2[Sb2Cl6O]} n , contains two benzo-thia-zolidium cations and one tri-μ-chlorido-tri-chlorido-μ-oxido-di-anti-monate(III) anion. The structure of the inorganic cation may be described as as being built up from two polyhedra, i.e. a square-pyramidal SbCl4O and a distorted octa-hedral SbOCl5 unit, sharing a common face (comprising the O atom and two Cl atoms). The two benzo-thia-zole cations are quasi-planar and subtend a dihedral angle of 19.93 (5)°. The crystal packing can be described by alternating (100) layers and [001] chains of the organic cations and inorganic anions connected through an extensive three-dimensional network of N-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. This is consolidated by slipped π-π stacking, with centroid-to-centroid distances between the benzo-thia-zole rings of 3.7111 (18)-3.8452 (16) Å. These inter-actions link the mol-ecules within the layers and also link the layers together and reinforce the cohesion of the ionic structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the polymeric title compound, {(C21H19N2)[HgCl3]} n , comprises one-half of the cationic mol-ecule, the other half being generated by application of twofold rotation symmetry, one Hg and two Cl atoms. The Hg(II) atom, lying on a twofold rotation axis, exhibits a distorted triangular coordination environment and is surrounded by three Cl atoms with Hg-Cl distances in the range 2.359?(2)-2.4754?(13)?Å. Two additional longer distances [Hg?Cl = 3.104?(14)?Å] lead to the formation of polymeric [HgCl1/1Cl4/2](-) chains extending along [001]. The crystal packing can be described by cationic layers alternating parallel to (-110) with the anionic chains located between the layers. The packing is consolidated by ?-? stacking inter-actions between the benzene rings of the central benzimidazole entities, with centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.643?(3)?Å.

Project description:The title polymer, [Cu(2)Cl(2)(C(9)H(9)N(5))(2)](n), has been prepared by the solvothermal treatment of CuCl with 4-(2-allyl-2H-tetra-zol-5-yl)pyridine. The crystal structure shows that the title compound is a homometallic Cu(I)-olefin coordination polymer, in which the Cu(2)Cl(2) nodes are bridged by two olefin ligands. The asymmetric unit contains one-half of the monomer, the complete monomer having twofold rotation symmetry. The coordination environment of Cu(I) is slightly distorted tetra-hedral, with coordination sites being two μ(2)-Cl atoms, one pyridine N atom of an organic ligand and one allylic double bond of a symmetry-related ligand. Each organic mol-ecule behaves as a bidentate ligand, connecting two neighboring Cu(2)Cl(2) dimers in the polymeric chain, which runs along [010].

Project description:A tetra-nuclear ZnII complex, [Zn4(C13H11N6O)2Cl6(H2O)2] or {[Zn2(HL)(H2O)(Cl2)](μCl)2[Zn2(HL)(H2O)(Cl)]}2, was synthesized by mixing an equimolar amount of a methanol solution containing ZnCl2 and a methanol solution containing the ligand H2 L [1,5-bis-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-ene)carbono-hydrazide]. In the tetra-nuclear complex, each of the two ligand mol-ecules forms a dinuclear unit that is connected to another dinuclear unit by two bridging chloride anions. In each dinuclear unit, one ZnII cation is penta-coordinated in a N2OCl2 in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, while the other ZnII cation is hexa-coordinated in a N3OCl2 environment with a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The basal plane around the penta-coordinated ZnII cation is formed by one chloride anion, one oxygen atom, one imino nitro-gen atom and one pyridine nitro-gen atom with the apical position occupied by a chloride anion. The basal plane of the hexa-coordinated ZnII cation is formed by one chloride anion, one hydrazinyl nitro-gen atom, one imino nitro-gen atom and one pyridine nitro-gen atom with the apical positions occupied by a water oxygen atom and a bridged chloro anion from another dinuclear unit, leading to a tetra-nuclear complex. A series of intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds is observed in each tetra-nuclear unit. In the crystal, the tetra-nuclear units are connected by inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a planar two-dimensional structure in the ac plane.
