Crystal structure of tris-(trans-1,2-di-amino-cyclo-hexane-?(2) N,N')cobalt(III) trichloride monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: The synthesis of the title hydrated complex salt, [Co(C6H14N2)3]Cl3·H2O, from racemic trans-1,2-di-amino-cyclo-hexane and [CoCl(NH3)5]Cl2 and its structural characterization are presented in this paper. The product was synthesized in the inter-est of understanding the hydrogen-bonding patterns of coordination complexes. Previous characterizations of the product in the I-42d space group have not yielded coordinates; thus, this paper provides the first coordinates for this complex in this space group. The octahedrally coordinated cation adopts twofold rotation symmetry, with outer-sphere chloride counter-ions and solvent water mol-ecules forming a hydrogen-bonded network with amine H atoms.

The dihedral angle between benzene rings is 79.6 (2)°. Two intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are present. In the crystal, the components are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H⋯π inter-actions, generating a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd₂I₄(C₆H₁₄N₂)₂](n), there are two independent Cd(II) ions. One Cd(II) ion is coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment by four N atoms from two cyclo-hexane-1,2-diamine ligands and two iodido ligands. The other Cd(II) ion is coordinated by four iodido ligands in a slightly distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment. Two of the iodido ligands act as bridging ligands connecting Cd(II) ions and forming a one-dimensional polymer along [010]. In the crystal, N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds connect the one-dimensional structure into a two-dimensional framework parallel to (001).

Project description:The title compound [Co(C22H26N4O4)]PF6, commonly known as [Co(bpcd)]PF6, where bpcd(2-) is derived from the historical ligand name N,N'-bis-(2-pyridyl-meth-yl)-trans-1,2-di-amino-cyclo-hexane-N,N'-di-acetate, crystallized by slow evaporation of a saturated aceto-nitrile solution in air. The cation of the hexa-fluorido-phosphate salt has the Co(III) atom in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry provided by an N4O2 donor atom set. The acetate groups, which are oriented trans with respect to each other, exhibit monodentate coordination whereas the pyridyl N atoms are coordinating in a cis configuration. In the crystal, the cations are linked to the anions by N-H⋯Br and C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds, forming a chain structure along the c axis. The di-chloro-methane mol-ecule takes part in the hydrogen-bond network through C-H⋯π and C-H⋯Br inter-actions.

Project description:The structure of the title hybrid compound, (C6H16N2)[CrO4], has been determined from synchrotron data. The organic cation adopts a chair conformation. The inorganic CrO42- anion is slightly distorted owing to its involvement in N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions with neighbouring trans-cyclo-hexane-1,2-di-ammonium cations, whereby the two Cr-O bonds to the O atoms acting as acceptor atoms for two hydrogen bonds are slightly longer than the other two Cr-O bonds for which only one acceptor inter-action per O atom is observed. In the crystal, cations and anions are packed into layers parallel to (001), held together through the aforementioned N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
