Crystal structure of {(E)-2-[(phenyl-imino)-meth-yl]phenolato-?(2) N,O}bis-[2-(pyridin-2-yl)phenyl-?(2) C (1),N]iridium(III) di-chloro-methane monosolvate.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Ir(C11H8N)2(C13H10NO)]·CH2Cl2, the Ir(III) ion is six-coordinated by two C,N-bidentate 2-(pyridin-2-yl)phenyl ligands and one N,O-bidentate 2-[(phenyl-imino)-meth-yl]phenolate anion, giving rise to a distorted octa-hedral environment. The C,N-bidentate ligands, in which the C and N atoms are statistically disordered over two sites and therefore both pairs of C and N atoms are trans and cis relative to each other, are almost perpendicular to each other [the dihedral angle between the least-square planes is 87.00?(4)°]. An intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond, as well as inter-molecular C-H?? inter-actions and ?-? inter-actions, contribute to the stabilization of the mol-ecular and crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the solvated title complex, [Ir(C11H8N)2(C15H14NO3)]·2CH2Cl2, consists of two complex mol-ecules together with four di-chloro-methane solvent mol-ecules, one of which is disordered. In each complex mol-ecule, the IrIII ion has a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment defined by two 2-phenyl-pyridine ligands, through two phenyl C and two pyridine N atoms, and by one N,O-bidentate 2-[(2,4-di-meth-oxy-phenyl-imino)-meth-yl]phenolate anion. The IrIII ions lie almost in the equatorial planes with deviations of 0.0396 (17) and 0.0237 (17) Å, respectively, for the two complex mol-ecules. In both complex mol-ecules, the two 2-phenyl-pyridine ligands are nearly perpendicular to each other [dihedral angles between the least-squares-planes of 89.91 (11) and 85.13 (11)°]. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions as well as inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions are present, leading to a three-dimensional network structure. One of the four dichlormethane solvent mol-ecules shows disorder over two sets of sites [occupancy ratio 0.79 (2):0.21 (2)].

Project description:The title Schiff base zinc(II) complex, [Zn(C(13)H(10)ClN(2)O)I(CH(3)OH)], was synthesized by the reaction of 5-chloro-salicyl-aldehyde, 2-amino-methyl-pyridine and zinc iodide in methanol. The Zn(II) atom is five-coordinated by one phenolate O atom, one imine and one pyridine N atom of the Schiff base ligand, one methanol O atom and one I atom, forming a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, with the I atom at the apical site. The dihedral angle between the benzene and pyridine rings is 22.9 (2)°. In the crystal, centrosymmetrically related mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming dimers.

Project description:In the title complex, [Pd(C16H16NO2)2]·CHCl3, the Pd(II) cation lies on an inversion center. One Cl atom of the CHCl3 solvent mol-ecule lies on a twofold axis and the C-H group is disordered with equal occupancies about this axis with the other Cl atom in a general position with full occupancy. The Pd(II) cation is four-coordinate and adopts a square-planar geometry via coordination of the imine N and phenolic O atoms of the two bidentate Schiff base anions. The N and O atoms of these ligands are mutually trans. The plane of the benzene ring makes a dihedral angle of 73.52?(10)° with that of the meth-oxy-phenolate ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules of the Pd(II) complex are arranged into sheets parallel to the ac plane, and the chloro-form solvent mol-ecules are located in the inter-stitial areas between the complex mol-ecules. Weak inter-molecular C-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions stabilize the packing.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(12)H(9)N(2)O)(2)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)], contains two independent (2-formyl-phen-olato){2-[(pyridin-2-yl)imino-meth-yl]phenolato}copper(II) mol-ecules that form pseudocentrosymmetric dimers via inter-actions between the Cu and pyridyl N atoms of independent monomers. The square-planar geometry of the Cu atoms in the monomer thus becomes square-based pyramidal in the dimer. The crystal studied was an inversion twin, with unequal populations of 0.353?(17) and 0.647?(17).
