Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Dimorphic Dibenzo[cde,opq]rubicene.

ABSTRACT: Dibenzo[cde,opq]rubicene has been synthesized by an eight-step reaction sequence including an iron-mediated [2+2+1] cycloaddition and a flash vacuum pyrolysis as key steps. Two crystal modifications of the S-shaped, planar polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon have been obtained and characterized by X-ray diffractometry.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compound, C21H18N2O6, has a bent rather than a linear conformation supported by three intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The packing in the crystal lattice is largely determined by inter-actions between hydrogen atoms with oxygen atom lone pairs with one mol-ecule inter-acting with neigbouring mol-ecules via O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The title compound crystallizes in the chiral ortho-rhom-bic space group P212121. Its absolute structure could not be determined crystallographically and was assumed with reference to that of the reactant 5-iodo-2'-de-oxy-uridine.

Crystal structure of 12-benzyl-sulfanyl-2,9-di-bromo-6H-dibenzo[b,g][1,8]naphthyridin-11-one.

Project description:The hetero-tetra-cene skeleton of the title mol-ecule, C23H14Br2N2OS, is defined by linear annulation of four six-membered rings, including two N heteroatoms. This moiety is nearly planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.055 Å), with a slight twist of 4.1 (2)° between the two halves of the aromatic system. The dihedral angle between the least-squares plane of the skeleton and the benzyl group is 24.5 (3)°; the C-S-C angle involving the benzyl-sulfanyl group is 99.2 (4)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are π-stacked in an anti-parallel fashion along [110], with a distance between the aromatic planes of 3.47 (2) Å. Inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form chains extending parallel to [001] and bridge the anti-parallel inter-digitated stacks of mol-ecules.

RbZnFe(PO4)2: synthesis and crystal structure.

Project description:A new iron phosphate, rubidium zinc iron(III) phosphate, RbZnFe(PO4)2, has been synthesized as single crystals by the flux method. This compound is isostructural to the previously reported KCoAl(PO4)2 [Chen et al. (1997 ?). Acta Cryst. C53,1754-1756]. Its structure consists of a three-dimensional framework built up from corner-sharing PO4 and (Zn,Fe)O4 tetra-hedra. This mode of linkage forms channels parallel to the [100], [010] and [001] directions in which the Rb(+) ions are located.

Synthesis and crystal structure of (±)-Goniotamirenone C.

Project description:The structure of the racemic version of the natural product Goniotamirenone C [racemic anti-6-(2-chloro-1-hy-droxy-2-phenyl-eth-yl)-2H-pyran-2-one, C13H11ClO3] at 150 K is reported. The compound crystallizes with monoclinic (P21/n) symmetry and with Z' = 2. One independent mol-ecule is ordered while the other independent mol-ecule exhibits an inter-esting whole-mol-ecule enanti-omeric disorder with occupancies of 0.846 (4) and 0.154 (4). The independent mol-ecules are hydrogen bonded with -OH⋯O=C linkages into chains that run parallel to the a axis. This structural analysis corrects our previous assignment as the syn isomer [Meesakul et al. (2020 ▸). Phytochemistry, 171, 112248-112255].

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Gold Nanobelts.

Project description:Gold nanobelts were synthesized by the reduction of tetrachloroauric acid with ascorbic acid in the presence of the surfactants cetyltrimethylammonium bromide and sodium dodecylsulfate. The resulting structures have rectangular cross sectional dimensions that are tens of nanometers and lengths that are tens to hundreds of micrometers. We find that the nanobelt yield and resulting structures are very sensitive to temperature which is likely due to the transition of the surfactant solution from wormlike micelles to spherical micelles. The nanobelt crystal structure contains a mixture of face centered cubic and hexagonally close packed lattice phases that can be isolated and examined individually due to the unique nanobelt size and shape.

Synthesis and crystal structure of ABW-type SrFe1.40V0.60O4.

Project description:Single crystals of SrFe1.40V0.60O4, strontium tetra-oxidodi[ferrate(III)/vanad-ate(III)], have been obtained as a side product in the course of sinter experiments aimed at the synthesis of double perovskites in the system SrO-Fe2O3-V2O5. The crystal structure can be characterized by layers of six-membered rings of TO4-tetra-hedra (T: FeIII, VIII) perpendicular to [100]. Stacking of the layers along [100] results in a three-dimensional framework enclosing tunnel-like cavities in which SrII cations are incorporated for charge compensation. The sequence of directedness of up (U) and down (D) pointing vertices of neighboring tetra-hedra in a single six-membered ring is UUUDDD. The topology of the tetra-hedral framework belongs to the zeolite-type ABW.

High-pressure synthesis and crystal structure of SrGa4As4.

Project description:Strontium tetra-gallate(II,III) tetra-arsenide, SrGa4As4, was synthesized in a Walker-type multianvil apparatus under high-pressure/high-temperature conditions of 8 GPa and 1573 K. The com-pound crystallizes in a new structure type (P3221, Z = 3) as a three-dimensional (3D) framework of corner-sharing SrAs8 quadratic anti-prisms with strontium situated on a twofold rotation axis (Wyckoff position 3b). This arrangement is surrounded by a 3D framework which can be described as alternately stacked layers of either condensed GaIIIAs4 tetra-hedra or honeycomb-like layers built up from distorted ethane-like GaII 2As6 units com-prising Ga-Ga bonds.

Synthesis and crystal structure of ebastinium hydrogen fumarate.

Project description:The structure of ebastinium hydrogen fumarate {systematic name: 1-[4-(4-tert-butyl-phen-yl)-4-oxobut-yl]-4-(di-phenyl-meth-oxy)piperidin-1-ium (E)-3-carb-oxy-1-hy-droxy-prop-2-en-1-olate}, C32H40NO2 +·C4H3O4 -, a 1:1 salt formed in the reaction between ebastine and fumaric acid is presented. All examined crystals were found to be twinned by pseudo-merohedry. The structure is extensively disordered, with over half (20 out of 35) its non-hydrogen atoms modelled as lying over two sets of sites. In the crystal, cation-anion pairs are linked by a strong N-H⋯O hydrogen bond [N⋯O = 2.697 (11) Å]. These units inter-act via weaker C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π contacts to form layers lying parallel to the bc plane. The hydrogen fumarate anions are linked by a very short O-H⋯O hydrogen bond [O⋯O = 2.5402 (17) Å], augmented by weak C-H⋯O contacts into pairs of R 2 2(6) ring motifs to form chains that extend parallel to the b-axis direction. Comparisons to similar crystal structures are presented.

Synthesis and crystal structure of Na4Ni7(AsO4)6.

Project description:The title compound, tetra-sodium hepta-nickel hexa-arsenate, was obtained by ceramic synthesis and crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/m. The asymmetric unit contains seven Ni atoms of which two have site symmetry 2/m and three site symmetry 2, four As atoms of which two have site symmetry m and two site symmetry 2, three Na atoms of which two have site symmetry 2, and fifteen O atoms of which four have site symmetry m. The structure of Na4Ni7(AsO4)6 is made of layers of Ni octa-hedra and As tetra-hedra assembled in sheets parallel to the bc plane. These layers are inter-connected by corner-sharing between NiO6 octa-hedra and AsO4 tetra-hedra. This linkage creates tunnels running along the c axis in which the Na atoms are located. This arrangement is similar to the one observed in Na4Ni7(PO4)6, but the layers of the two compounds are slightly different because of the disorder of one of the Ni sites in the structure of the title compound.

Synthesis and crystal structure of NaMgFe(MoO4)3.

Project description:The iron molybdate NaMgFe(MoO4)3 {sodium magnesium iron(III) tris-[molybdate(VI)]} has been synthesized by the flux method. This compound is isostructural with α-NaFe2(MoO4)3 and crystallizes in the triclinic space group P-1. Its structure is built up from [Mg,Fe]2O10 units of edge-sharing [Mg,Fe]O6 octa-hedra which are linked to each other through the common corners of [MoO4] tetra-hedra. The resulting anionic three-dimensional framework leads to the formation of channels along the [101] direction in which the Na(+) cations are located.
