A redetermination of the structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of poly[di-aquadi-μ-hydroxido-tetra-kis-(μ-nicotinato N-oxide)tricopper(II)].

ABSTRACT: The product obtained from the reaction of pyridine-2,3-di-carb-oxy-lic acid and hydrated copper(II) chloride in hot aqueous NaOH solution was determined by low temperature X-ray diffraction to be [Cu₃(C₆H₄NO₃)₄(OH)₂(H₂O)₂] _n or [Cu₃(μ-OH)₂(μ-nicNO)₄(H₂O)₂] _n (nicNO is pyridine-3-carboxyl-ate N-oxide), a structure obtained from room temperature data and reported previously. The present determination is improved in quality and treatment of the H atoms. A Hirshfeld surface analysis of the inter-molecular inter-actions is presented.

Project description:The title stannoxane is a toluene-solvated dimer, [Sn(4)(C(7)H(6)Cl)(8)Cl(2)O(2)(OH)(2)]·C(7)H(8), the tetra-nuclear mol-ecule lying across a center of inversion. The Sn(4)O(4) framework, whose two independent Sn atoms show trigonal bipyramidal coordination, is essentially planar (r.m.s deviation = 0.02 Å). One of the two chloro-benzyl groups of the chloridodiorganyltin unit is disordered over two positions with the chloro-phenyl residue refined over two positions in a 50:50 ratio. The solvent mol-ecule is disordered about a twofold axis.

Project description:The title compound, [Re(4)(μ(3)-OH)(4)(CO)(12)]·4C(5)H(5)N, crystallizes with one tetranuclear rhenium(I) cubane-like molecule and four pyridine mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The coordination environment of each Re(I) atom is distorted octahedral. Four intra-molecular O-H⋯N and four inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions are observed. Relatively strong hydrogen bonds are found between the hydrogen-bond donor (μ(3)-OH) and acceptor (basic N atom of pyridine), with N⋯O distances between 2.586 (10) and 2.628 (10) Å. Inter-cube distances of 9.873 (2) and 12.376 (3) Å are observed.

Project description:The tetra-nuclear copper(II) title complex, [Cu(4)Cl(2)(OH)(4)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(4)](NO(3))(2)·6H(2)O, has a crystallographically imposed centre of symmetry. The metal atoms display a distorted tetragonal-pyramidal coordination geometry, and are linked by two ?(2)- and two ?(3)-hydroxo groups, assuming a chair-like conformation for the Cu(4)O(2) core. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by inter-molecular O-H?O, O-H?Cl, C-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions with centroid-centroid separations of 3.724?(2) and 3.767?(3)?Å.

Project description:A new thulium(III)-copper(I) heterometallic coordination polymer, [Cu(4)Tm(2)Br(3)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(6)(OH)(H(2)O)(4)](n), has been prepared by a hydro-thermal method. The Tm and both Cu atoms lie on mirror planes. The Tm atom is seven-coordinate with a capped distorted trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry, while the Cu atoms adopt trigonal CuBrN(2) and tetra-hedral CuBr(3)N coordination modes, respectively. The Cu atom in the trigonal coordination environment is disordered over two sites of equal occupancy. The crystal structure is constructed from two distinct units of dimeric [Tm(2)(?(2)-OH(IN)(6)(H(2)O)(4)] cores (IN = isonicotinate) and one-dimensional inorganic [Cu(4)Br(3)](n) chains, which are linked together, forming heterometallic Cu-halide-lanthanide-organic layers.

Project description:The title compounds, [Sn3(CH3)9(OH)2(H2O)2][Sn(CH3)3(CHO2)2] (1) and [Sn3(CH3)9(OH)2]Cl·H2O (2), are partially condensed products of hydrolysed tri-methyl-tin chloride. In the structures of 1 and 2, short cationic tris-tannatoxanes (C9H29O2Sn3) are bridged by a diformatotri-methyl-tin anion or a chloride anion, respectively. Hydrogen bridges are present and supposedly stabilize these structures against further polymerization to the known polymeric tri-methyl-tin hydroxide. Especially noteworthy is that the formate present in this structure was formed from atmospheric CO2.

The two independent Sn(IV) cations assume SnO(3)C(2) and SnO(2)C(2)Cl distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometries. Intra-molecular O-H?Cl hydrogen bonding is present in the structure. One Cl atom of a chloro-benzyl ligand is disordered over two sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.693?(2):0.307?(2).

Disodium tricopper(II) tetra-kis[selenate(IV)] tetra-hydrate.

Project description:The title compound, Na(2)Cu(3)(SeO(3))(4)(H(2)O)(4), has been prepared under hydro-thermal conditions. The crystal structure contains a three-dimensional anionic framework made up from distorted [CuO(4)(H(2)O)(2)] octa-hedra ( symmetry), [CuO(4)(H(2)O)] square pyramids and trigonal-pyramidal SeO(3) units sharing common corners. The connectivity among these units leads to four- and eight-membered polyhedral rings, which by edge-sharing inter-connect into walls. A rhombus-like 16-membered polyhedral ring channel system with a longest length of approximately 14.0 Å and a shortest length of 5.3 Å is enclosed by such walls along the a axis. The water mol-ecules attached to the Cu atoms, as well as the electron lone pairs of the Se(IV) atoms, protrude into these channels. The seven-coordinated Na(+) counter-cations occupy the remaining free space of the 16-membered polyhedral ring channels. An intricate network of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds further consolidates the three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(2)(C(4)H(4)O(5))(2)(H(2)O)](n), has a two-dimensional layer structure. The Cu atom has a distorted octa-hedral (CuO(6)) environment and is coordinated by four carboxyl-ate group O atoms from three different oxydiacetate ligands in a planar arrangement and one half-occupancy water mol-ecule and an ether O atom in the axial positions. In the crystal structure, weak intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds help to stabilize the crystal packing. The structure has already been published [Whitlow & Davey (1975 ▶). J. Chem. Soc. Dalton. Trans. pp. 1228-1232]; this redetermination reports the structure with higher precision.
