Crystal structures of di-aquadi-?-hydroxido-tris-[tri-methyl-tin(IV)] diformatotri-methyl-stannate(IV) and di-?-hydroxido-tris-[tri-methyl-tin(IV)] chloride monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title compounds, [Sn₃(CH₃)₉(OH)₂(H₂O)₂][Sn(CH₃)₃(CHO₂)₂] (1) and [Sn₃(CH₃)₉(OH)₂]Cl·H₂O (2), are partially condensed products of hydrolysed tri-methyl-tin chloride. In the structures of 1 and 2, short cationic tris-tannatoxanes (C₉H₂₉O₂Sn₃) are bridged by a diformatotri-methyl-tin anion or a chloride anion, respectively. Hydrogen bridges are present and supposedly stabilize these structures against further polymerization to the known polymeric tri-methyl-tin hydroxide. Especially noteworthy is that the formate present in this structure was formed from atmospheric CO₂.

The Sn atom is six-coordinate with a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Additional O-H?O hydrogen bonding leads to stabilization of the crystal structure.

Project description:The Sn(IV) atom in the centrosymmetric title complex, [Sn2(CH3)4(NCS)2(OH)2], adopts a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination environment defined by two methyl C atoms and one bridging hydroxide group in the equatorial plane while the other bridging hydroxide group and the N atom of the thio-cyanate anion are in the apical >positions. The dinuclear species are linked through O-H?S and C-H? S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Nd(3)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(OH)(3)]·H(2)O}(n), the Nd(III) atom is eight-coordinated by the three O atoms of three asymmetrically ?(3)-bridging hydroxide groups, by four carboxyl-ate O atoms of four different pyridine-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate (2,5-pydc) ligands, and by the N atom of a 2,5-pydc ligand. Six Nd atoms are connected by six hydroxide groups, forming an [Nd(6)(?(3)-OH)(6)] cluster unit of symmetry -3 and a slightly compressed octa-hedral geometry. Adjacent [Nd(6)(?(3)-OH)(6)] clusters are connected by the 2,5-pydc ligands, via O and N atoms, forming chains along the c axis. The remaining O atoms of the 2,5-pydc ligands link these chains into a three-dimensional framework. A disordered water molecule, located on a threefold rotation axis at the opposite side of the [Nd(6)(?(3)-OH)(6)] cluster and exposed to each of the three Nd atoms, completes the structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Sn(C6H5)3(C2H3OS2)], the Sn(IV) atom adopts a distorted SnC3S tetra-hedral coordination geometry. A short Sn?O contact [2.988?(4)?Å] is also present. The phenyl rings are each disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.550?(8):0.450?(8). The crystal studied was found to be a racemic twin with a twin component ratio of 0.57?(18):0.43?(18).

One Cl atom of a chloro-benzyl ligand is disordered over two sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.693?(2):0.307?(2).
