Synthesis and crystal structure of (E)-2-benzyl-1,3-di-phenyl-iso-thio-uronium iodide.

ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecular salt, C₂₀H₁₉N₂S⁺·I^-, prepared by the reaction of 1,3-di-phenyl-thio-urea and benzyl iodide, the C-S-C thio-ether bond angle is 101.66 (9)° and electrons are delocalized over the N⁺= C-N skeleton. The dihedral angle between the aromatic rings attached to the N atoms is 40.60 (9)°. In the crystal, N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds link the components into [100] chains.

An intra-molecular hydrogen bond generates an S(5)S(5) ring motif. The crystal packing is stabilized by intra-molecular C-H⋯O and inter-molecular C-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds which, along with short S⋯O [3.034 (2) Å] and N⋯O [2.796 (3) Å] contacts, form a two-dimensional network parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(NCS)(C3H8N2S)(C27H26P2)], contains two independent mononuclear complex mol-ecules. In each, the Cu(I) ion exhibits a distorted tetra-hedral geometry by coordination with two P atoms from one 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane (dppm) ligand, one terminal S atom of one N,N'-di-methyl-thio-urea (dmtu) ligand and one terminal N atom of the thio-cyanato ligand. The dppp ligand is involved in a bidentate coordination mode with the Cu(I) ion, forming a six-membered CuP2C3 ring. In both mol-ecules, the coordination of the dmtu ligand is further stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bond with an S(6) graph-set motif. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds forming a zigzag chain along the a-axis direction. In one independent mol-ecule, one of the phenyl rings of the dppp ligand is disordered over two sites with refined occupancies 0.639 (11):0.361 (11) and this corresponds with a mutual disorder of the dmtu ligand in the other independent mol-ecule giving the same ratio of refined occupancies. The structure was refined as a two-component inversion twin.

Project description:The title complex, [Ag3I2(C25H22P2)3]I·C7H8N2S, comprises a trinuclear [Ag3I2(C25H22P2)3](+) unit, an I(-) anion and one N,N'-phenyl-thio-urea mol-ecule (ptu). Two μ3-bridging I(-) anions are linked by three Ag(I) ions, leading to the formation of a dicapped triangular motif with Ag⋯Ag separations in the range 3.0823 (5)-3.2999 (5) Å. Each Ag(I) atom exhibits a distorted tetra-hedral geometry, with coordination to two I atoms and two P atoms from bis-(di-phenyl-phosphan-yl)methane ligands. In the crystal, the I(-) anion is linked to the ptu mol-ecule through two N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds [graph-set motif R 2 (1)(6)]. These N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds, in addition to weak C-H⋯S and C-H⋯I hydrogen bonds, form zigzag chains along [010]. Two of the phenyl rings of two dppm ligands are disordered over two sets of sites with refined occupancies of 0.557 (16) and 0.443 (16).

Synthesis, crystal structure and thermal properties of bis-(1,3-di-cyclo-hexyl-thio-urea-κS)bis(iso-thiocyanato-κN)cobalt(II).

Project description:Crystals of the title compound, [Co(NCS)2(C13H24N2S)2], were obtained by the reaction of Co(NCS)2 with 1,3-di-cyclo-hexyl-thio-urea in ethanol. Its crystal structure consists of discrete complexes that are located on twofold rotation axes, in which the CoII cations are tetra-hedrally coordinated by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions and two 1,3-di-cyclo-hexyl-thio-urea ligands. These complexes are linked via inter-molecular N-H⋯S and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonding into chains, which elongate in the b-axis direction. These chains are closely packed in a pseudo-hexa-gonal manner. The CN stretching vibration of the thio-cyanate anions located at 2038 cm-1 is in agreement with only terminal bonded anionic ligands linked to metal cations in a tetra-hedral coordination. TG-DTA measurements prove the decomposition of the compound at about 227°C. DSC measurements reveal a small endothermic signal before decomposition at about 174°C, which might correspond to melting.

Project description:The title compound, C28H33N2S2P, adopts the thione tautomeric form, as supported by the C-S distance [1.6744 (18) Å]. The Schiff base exhibits an E conformation about the C=N bond but a Z conformation about the C-N bond. The terminal chain is disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.732 (3):0.268 (3). In the crystal, pairs of N-N-H hydrogen bonds between the thione groups link neighbouring mol-ecules into centrosymmetric dimers.

Project description:The whole mol-ecule of the title compound, C20H14O6, is generated by mirror symmetry, the mirror bis-ecting the central benzene ring. The carbonate groups adopt an s-cis-s-cis conformation, with torsion angles of 58.7 (2) and 116.32 (15)°. The crystal structure of 1,3-phenyl-ene bis-(phenyl carbonate) contains no strong hydrogen bonds, though weak C-H⋯O and offset π-π inter-actions are observed, forming layers parallel to the ac plane.

Crystal structure of benzyl 3-(3-methyl-phen-yl)di-thio-carbazate.

Project description:In the title compound, C15H16N2S2, the central CN2S2 residue is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0354 Å) and forms dihedral angles of 56.02 (4) and 75.52 (4)° with the phenyl and tolyl rings, respectively; the dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 81.72 (5)°. The conformation about the N-N bond is gauche [C-N-N-C = -117.48 (15)°]. Overall, the mol-ecule has the shape of the letter L. In the crystal packing, supra-molecular chains along the a axis are formed by N-H⋯S(thione) hydrogen bonds whereby the thione S atom accepts two such bonds. The hydrogen bonding leads to alternating edge-shared eight-membered {⋯HNCS}2 and 10-membered {⋯HNNH⋯S}2 synthons. The chains are connected into layers by phen-yl-tolyl C-H⋯π inter-actions; the layers stack along the c axis with no specific inter-actions between them.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the polymeric title compound, {(C21H19N2)[HgCl3]} n , comprises one-half of the cationic mol-ecule, the other half being generated by application of twofold rotation symmetry, one Hg and two Cl atoms. The Hg(II) atom, lying on a twofold rotation axis, exhibits a distorted triangular coordination environment and is surrounded by three Cl atoms with Hg-Cl distances in the range 2.359 (2)-2.4754 (13) Å. Two additional longer distances [Hg⋯Cl = 3.104 (14) Å] lead to the formation of polymeric [HgCl1/1Cl4/2](-) chains extending along [001]. The crystal packing can be described by cationic layers alternating parallel to (-110) with the anionic chains located between the layers. The packing is consolidated by π-π stacking inter-actions between the benzene rings of the central benzimidazole entities, with centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.643 (3) Å.
