ABSTRACT: The title solvated bimetallic complex, [Cd₂Cl₄(C₁₃H₁₇N₃)₂]·C₂H₅OH, comprises two Cd²⁺ metal ions linked by a pair of μ² Cl^- ions. The coordination sphere around each Cd²⁺ ion is completed by three N atoms of a tridentate 8-[2-(di-methyl-amino)-ethyl-amino]quinoline ligand and another chloride ion to form a distorted fac-CdN₃Cl₃ octa-hedron. The ethanol mol-ecule is both an acceptor of an N-H⋯O and a donor of an O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds to its adjacent complex unit. In the crystal, weak aromatic π-π stacking is observed.

Project description:The title complex, [Cd2Cl4(C13H17N3)2]·H2O, is centrosymmetic and contains two Cd(2+) ions bridged by two Cl(-) ions, leading to a strictly planar Cd2Cl2 core. Each Cd(2+) ion is further coordinated by an additional Cl(-) ion and three N atoms of a tridentate 8-[2-(di-methyl-amino)-ethyl-amino]-quinoline ligand in the form of a considerably distorted octa-hedron for the overall coordination sphere. A lattice water mol-ecule is located on a twofold rotation axis and links pairs of complexes through N-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cd(2)Cl(4)(C(5)H(8)N(2))(3)](n), contains two Cd(II) cations, three 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligands, and four Cl(-) anions. The two Cd(II) atoms have quite different coordination environments: one is octa-hedrally coordinated by four Cl atoms and two N atoms from two 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligands, and the second is in a severely distorted fivefold coordination by four Cl atoms and one N atom from a 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligand. Adjacent Cd(II) cations are inter-connected alternately by pairs of chloride bridges, generating an infinite step-like chain along the a axis. One ethyl group of the 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligand is disordered over two sets of sites with a 0.668?(13):0.332?(13) site-occupancy ratio.

Project description:In the title complex, [ZnCl2(C13H17N3)], the coordination sphere of the zinc cation is distorted square pyramidal. The three N atoms of the N,N',N''-tridentate 8-[2-(di-methyl-amino)-ethyl-amino]-quinoline ligand and one chloride ion constitute a considerably distorted square base. The apical site is occupied by another chloride ion. The distortion from the ideal square-pyramidal geometry is manifested by the N-Zn-N angle of 133.25?(11)°. Like most square-pyramidal metal complexes, the zinc cation is displaced towards the apical chloride ion. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H?Cl inter-actions. This leads to the formation of chains of mol-ecules parallel to the b-axis direction.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd2(C6H9N3O2)2Cl6], the coordination polyhedra around the CdII cations are distorted trigonal bipyramids. Two of the chloride ions (one axial and one equatorial) are bridging to the other metal atom, leading to a Cd⋯Cd separation of 3.9162 (4) Å. The O atom of the l-histidinium cation lies in an axial site. In the crystal, numerous N-H⋯Cl, N-H⋯O, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. Theoretical calculations and spectroscopic data are available as supporting information.

The anion lies on an inversion center, while the atoms of the cation occupy general positions. An intra-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bond is observed in the cation. In the crystal, strong N-H⋯S hydrogen bonding between the terminal sulfur atoms of the anion and the protonated amine N atoms of the cations result in a three-dimensional network.

Crystal structure, Hirshfeld surface analysis and physicochemical characterization of bis-[4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium] di-μ-chlorido-bis[di-chlorido-mercurate(II)].

Project description:The title mol-ecular salt, (C7H11N2)2[Hg2Cl6], crystallizes with two 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium cations (A and B) and two half hexa-chlorido-dimercurate(II) anions in the asymmetric unit. The organic cations exhibit essentially the same features with an almost planar pyridyl ring (r.m.s. deviations of 0.0028 and 0.0109 Å), which forms an inclined dihedral angle with the dimethyamino group [3.06 (1) and 1.61 (1)°, respectively]. The di-methyl-amino groups in the two cations are planar, and the C-N bond lengths are shorter than that in 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridine. In the crystal, mixed cation-anion layers lying parallel to the (010) plane are formed through N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and adjacent layers are linked by C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The analyses of the calculated Hirshfeld surfaces confirm the relevance of the above inter-molecular inter-actions, but also serve to further differentiate the weaker inter-molecular inter-actions formed by the organic cations and inorganic anions, such as π-π and Cl⋯Cl inter-actions. The powder XRD data confirms the phase purity of the crystalline sample. Furthermore, the vibrational absorption bands were identified by IR spectroscopy and the optical properties were studied by using optical UV-visible absorption spectroscopy.

Two Cd(II) cations are connected by two chloride anions via ?(2)-coordination, forming a four-membered Cd(2)Cl(2) ring. The uncoordinated chloride anions are linked to the amino groups via N-H?Cl hydrogen bonding. Two C atoms of one of the two crystallographically independent ethyl-enediamine ligands are disordered and were refined using a split model [occupancy ratio 0.674?(9):0.326?(9)].

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Hg(2)Cl(4)(C(6)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Hg(II) ion is four-coordinated by one pyridine N atom from a 2-amino-4-methyl-pyridine ligand, one terminal Cl atom and two bridging Cl atoms. A distorted tetra-hedral geometry is formed around each Hg(II) ion. The crystal packing is stabilized by intra- and inter-molecular N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding. There are also π-π stacking inter-actions in the structure, with centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.594 (6) Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [CdCl(NCS)(C(9)H(8)N(2))](n), the Cd(II) atom is in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment defined by two chloride anions, two N atoms from an 8-amino-quinoline ligand, one N atom from one thio-cyanate anion and one S atom from a symmetry-related thio-cyanate anion. Two Cd(II) atoms are bridged by two chloride anions, forming an inversion-related Cd(2)Cl(2) unit; these units are further linked through thio-cyanate anions, leading to a chain structure extending parallel to [010]. Weak ?-? stacking inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.430?(4)?Å and an inter-planar separation of 3.390?(3)?Å between the pyridine and benzene rings link the chains into a two-dimensional network parallel to (10[Formula: see text]). Weak inter-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions help to consolidate the crystal packing.
