Poly[(?(3)-nicotinato-?O:O':N)(?(2)-nicotinato-?O,O':N)iron(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Fe(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(2)](n), one nicotinate group O,O'-chelates one Fe atom and binds through the N atom to the other Fe atom; the second nicotinate group bridges three Fe atoms through the N and two O atoms. The ?(2)- and ?(3)-bridging modes of the two nicotinate groups result in a polymeric three-dimensional network structure. The Fe atom shows octa-hedral coordination geometry but one of the Fe-O bonds is somewhat long [2.522?(2)?Å].

Project description:The title coordination polymer, [Cu(C(6)H(3)BrNO(2))(2)](n), is composed of two structurally similar two-dimensional coordination polymers (twin layers). Both of them have the same chemical composition but they display different bond lengths and angles. In each layer, two N atoms and four carboxyl-ate O atoms from the bridging 5-bromo-nicotinate ligands and four carboxyl-ate O atoms from the terminal 5-bromo-nicotinate ligands bind to two Cu(II) atoms to form a dinuclear paddle-wheel-like pattern. Adjacent paddle wheels are further linked by bridging 5-bromo-nicotinate groups to generate a two-dimensional coordination polymer; neighboring twin-like layers are finally stacked through ?-? stacking interactions between adjacent pyridine rings [perpendicular distance of 3.626?(2)?Å] in a 'sandwich' manner, thus generating a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

The Zn atom is five coordinated by two azide anions and three nicotinate N-oxide ligands. Each nicotinate N-oxide bridges three Zn atoms, whereas the azide bridges two Zn atoms, resulting in the formation of a two-dimensional metal-organic polymer developing parallel to (100).

Project description:The itle compound, [Ca(C(6)H(3)ClNO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), contains polymeric chains extending along [100] that are generated by inversion centres. The Ca(2+) ions are bridged by 2-chloronicotinate groups and exhibit an eight-coordination by six carboxylate O atoms of four different 2-chloronicotinate ligands and two O atoms of water molecules. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O, O-H?N and C-H?O hydrogen bonds result in the formation of a supra-molecular network structure. The ?-? contacts between the 2-chloro-nicotinate rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.875?(3) and 3.701?(3)?Å] may further stabilize the structure.

Project description:The title complex, [Co2(C8H5NO4S)2(C10H8N2)3(H2O)2]·1.3H2O, was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The Co(II) ion is six-coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment resulting from two carboxyl-ate O atoms of two 2-carb-oxy-methyl-sulfanyl nicotinate (2-CMSN(2-)) anions, one water mol-ecule and three N atoms of three 4,4'-bi-pyridine ligands, with one 4,4'-bi-pyridine ligand situated on a centre of inversion. Two neighboring Co(II) ions are linked by two anions, giving a dinuclear [Co2(2-CMSN)2] subunit with a Co?Co separation of 6.8600?(3)?Å. The dinuclear subunits are joined by bridging 4,4'-bi-pyridine linkers, generating a three-dimensional network structure. Disordered water mol-ecules are situated in the free space of this network. O-H?O hydrogen bonding within and between the subunits enhances the stability of the structure.

Poly[[hexa-?-cyanido-manganese(II)iron(III)] penta-hydrate].

Project description:The structure of the title compound, Mn(II)[Fe(III)(CN)(6)](2/3)·5H(2)O, features a face-centered cubic -Mn-NC-Fe- framework with both Mn and Fe having site symmetry mm. Since one-third of the [Fe(CN)(6)](3-) units are missing for a given formula in order to maintain charge neutrality, each Mn atom around such a vacancy is coordinated not only by the N atoms of the CN groups but also by the O atoms of the ligand water mol-ecules. In addition to ligand water mol-ecules, two types of non-coordinated water mol-ecules, so-called zeolitic water mol-ecules, exist in the inter-stitial sites of the -Mn-NC-Fe- framework. The positions of the O atoms of the zeolitic water mol-ecules are fixed by the linkage via hydrogen bonds between ligand water and zeolitic water mol-ecules. The structure is related to a recently reported rubidium manganese hexa-cyano-ferrate. Site occupancy factors for Fe, C, N are 0.67; for two O atoms the value is 0.83 and for one O atom is 0.17.

Project description:The title compound, [K2Fe{OCH(CF3)2}4] n , was formed from the reaction of potassium hexa-fluoro-isopropoxide with iron(II) chloride in toluene. The Fe(II) atom has a highly distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment. All four of the non-equivalent hexa-fluoro-isoprop-oxy O atoms link the Fe(II) atoms to one of the K(+) atoms in an alternating chain of Fe-O-K-O fused four-membered rings, with K-Fe distances of 3.715?(2) and 3.717?(2)?Å. This K(+) atom is also bridged to eight of the F atoms. The other K(+) atom is bonded to only two of the O atoms, but has seven short K?F contacts, one of which links the chains into a three-dimensional arrangement. Weak hydrogen bonding between the lone H atoms on the hexa-fluoro-isoprop-oxy groups and F atoms is also present. The crystal studied was refined as an inversion twin.

Project description:The dinuclear mol-ecule of the title compound, [Cd(2)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(4)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, lies on an inversion centre and forms 12-membered (CdNC(3)O)(2) metallacycles with the two Cd(2+) ions bridged by two nicotinate ligands. Both Cd(2+) ions display coordination polyhedra with a distorted octa-hedral geometry that includes two pyridine N atoms from bridging and terminal nicotinate anions, two amine N atoms from chelating ethylene-diamine ligands, carboxylate O atoms from bridging nicotinate anions and water O atoms. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds result in the formation of a three-dimensional network, and π-π stacking inter-actions are observed between symmetry-related pyridine rings of bridging as well as terminal nicotinate anions (the centroid-centroid distances are 3.59 and 3.69 Å, respectively, and the distances between parallel planes of the stacked pyridine rings are 3.53 and 3.43 Å, respectively). The two methylene groups of the ethylene-diamine ligand are disordered over two positions; the site occupancy factors are ca 0.8 and 0.2.

It has a one-dimensional polymeric chain structure and the chains are further connected into a three-dimensional structure by hydrogen bonds. The Fe(II) ion has a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment, with two N and two O atoms from the pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate ligands in the equatorial plane and with two water mol-ecules in axial positions. The Fe atom lies on a crystallographic centre of symmetry and a twofold rotation axis passes through the pyrazine ring.
