ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(16)H(17)NO(3), a Schiff base, is stabilized in the solid state in the phenol-imine tautomeric form, with the H atom located on the hydr-oxy O atom rather than on the N atom. This H atom is involved in a strong intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond. The mol-ecule is almost planar, the angle between the benzene rings being 4.43?(13)°. C-H?? inter-actions are also present.

Project description:In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(16)H(17)NO(3), the aromatic rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 29.25?(8)°. An intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond results in the formation of a nearly planar [maximum deviation 0.034?(13)?Å] six-membered ring, which is oriented at dihedral angles of 0.91?(1) and 28.91?(12)° with respect to the aromatic rings. The title mol-ecule is a phenol-imine tautomer, as evidenced by C-O, C-N and C-C bond lengths. Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C(17)H(16)N(2)O(3)S, the benzothia-zole fragment and the benzene ring form a dihedral angle of 13.8 (4)°, and an intramolecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal structure, pairs of weak inter-molecular O-H⋯S and C-H⋯(O,O) hydrogen bonds link mol-ecules into centrosymmetric dimers. The dihedral angles between the aromatic rings in the three independent mol-ecules are 13.55 (2), 21.24 (2) and 46.26 (1)°. C-H⋯π inter-actions are also observed in the crystal structure.
