ABSTRACT: In the title compound, {[CdCl(2)(C(16)H(20)N(4))(2)]·4H(2)O}(n), octa-hedrally coordinated Cd(II) ions, situated on crystallographic inversion centres, bearing trans-disposed chloride ligands, are linked into (4,4)-grid coordination polymer layers by tethering 1,4-bis-(3-pyridylmeth-yl)piperazine ligands. The layers are aligned parallel to the (01) crystal planes and aggregate by means of O-H?N, O-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen-bonding mechanisms imparted by cyclic water mol-ecule tetra-mers.

The Co atoms are linked into an anionic coordination polymer chain by bis-monodentate pyromellitate ligands. The chain motifs are connected into a supra-molecular layer by hydrogen bonding mediated by uncoordinated water mol-ecules. Charge balance is provided by doubly protonated bis-(4-pyridylmeth-yl)piperazine units, which are anchored to the coordination polymer chain motifs by N-H?O hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title compound, {[Cd(C(19)H(13)N(4)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·4H(2)O}(n) or {[Cd(BBA)(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·4H(2)O}(n), where BBA is 3,5-bis-(iso-nicotin-amido)-benzoate, is isotypic with its Mn isologue [Chen et al. (2009 ?). J. Coord. Chem.62, 2421-2428]. The cation sits on a twofold axis and is six-coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry; the polyhedra are linked into zigzag chains, which are further connected by N-H?O, O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds as well as ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance of 3.639?(2)?Å], giving a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(16)H(20)N(4))(H(2)O)](n), square-pyramidally coordinated Cu(II) ions are linked into [Cu(H(2)O)(isophthalate)](n) coordination polymer chains by isophthalate dianions. These chains are connected into undulating [Cu(H(2)O)(isophthalate)(3-bpmp)](n) [3-bmp is bis-(3-pyridylmeth-yl)piperazine] layers by 3-bpmp tethering ligands. The pseudo three-dimensional structure of the title compound is fostered by inter-layer O-H?O hydrogen bonding between the aqua ligands and unligated isophthalate O atoms. The selected crystal was non-merohedrally twinned. Only reflections from the major twin component were used in the solution and refinement.

The piperazinediium cation adopts a chair conformation and the Co(II) ion is six-coordinated in an N(2)O(4) environment, having a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Adjacent P6O18 rings are linked via corner-sharing by LiO4 tetra-hedra, generating anionic porous {[Li2(P6O18)](4-)} n layers parallel to (101). The piperazine-1,4-diium cations occupy the pores and develop hydrogen bonds with the inorganic framework. An extensive network of N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions link the components into a three-dimensional network and additional stabilization is provided by weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, (C(5)H(14)N(2))[CuCl(4)], was synthesized by hydro-thermal reaction of CuCl(2) with 1-methyl-piperazine in an HCl/water solution. Both amine N atoms are protonated. The piperazine ring adopts a chair conformation. The Cu-Cl distances in the tetrahedral anion are in the range 2.2360?(7)-2.2732?(7)?Å. In the crystal, moderately strong and weak inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the anion and cation units into an infinite two-dimensional network parallel to the ab plane.

Weak C-H?O inter-actions between uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms of fumaric acid and water mol-ecules contribute to the crystal packing stability.
