ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Ni(C(11)H(10)N(2)O(2))(2)](C(7)H(5)O(2))(2), consists of an Ni(II) ion coordinated by two tridentate chelating (2-py)(2)C(OH)(2) ligands (py is pyrid-yl) and two benzoate anions. The Ni(II) ion is located on a twofold rotation axis, and its geometry is distorted octa-hedral. The gem-diol ligand (2-py)(2)C(OH)(2) adopts an ?(1):?(1):?(1) coordination mode. There are O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the gem-diol ligands and benzoate anions.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(11)H(10)N(2)O(2))(2)](NO(3))(2), consists of an Ni(II) atom coordinated by two tridentate chelating di-2-pyridylmethane-diol [(2-py)(2)C(OH)(2)] ligands. The Ni(II) atom is located on an inversion center. The geometry around the Ni(II) atom is distorted octa-hedral. The gem-diol (2-py)(2)C(OH)(2) ligand adopts the coordination mode η(1):η(1):η(1). The Ni-N and Ni-O bond lengths are typical for high-spin Ni(II) in an octa-hedral environment [Ni-N = 2.094 (2) and 2.124 (3) Å, and Ni-O = 2.108 (3) Å]. One of the hydr-oxy H atoms is split over two positions which both inter-act with the nitrate anion. The occurence of different O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds leads to the formation of a layer parallel to the (101) plane.

Project description:The mononuclear neutral title complex, [Ni(NCS)(2)(C(10)H(9)N(3))(2)], shows a cis-octa-hedral geometry around the Ni(II) ion, formed by two chelating di-2-pyridyl-amine (Hdpa) ligands and two thio-cyanate anions. Both amine H atoms are involved in N-H?S hydrogen bonding, resulting in the formation of layers of inter-linked mol-ecules parallel to the ab plane, which are further held together by weak ?-? inter-actions between adjacent complexes, involving one ring of each dipyridyl-amine unit [centroid-centroid distance = 3.777?(4)?Å], forming a three-dimensional assembly.

Inter-molecular O-H⋯I hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.790 (2) Å] are present in the crystal structure.

Project description:The centrosymmetric title complex, [Cu(2)Br(4)(C(11)H(10)N(2)O(2))(2)]·2H(2)O, was one of three complexes isolated by slow evaporation of an acetonitrile reaction mixture of CuBr(2) with di-2-pyridyl ketone (1:1 molar ratio). The title complex contains a 1:1 metal-to-ligand ratio of copper(II) with the hydrated form of the ligand di-2-pyridylmethane-diol. The copper centers are bridged by bromide donors, leading to a Cu-Cu distance of 4.090?(6)?Å. The crystals form as non-merohedral twins with two components related by a 180° rotation around the normal to [100]; the selected sample had a twin ratio of 0.63:0.37.
