Catena-Poly[[bis-(2,4-dichloro-benzoato)bis-(methanol-?O)cobalt(II)]-?-4,4'-bipyridine-?N:N'].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Co(C(7)H(3)Cl(2)O(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(CH(3)OH)(2)](n), the Co(II) ion lies on a twofold rotation axis and is in a slightly distorted octa-hedral CdO(4)N(2) environment, formed by two O atoms from monodentate dichloro-benzoate ligands, two O atoms from methanol ligands, and two N atoms from trans-related 4,4'-bipyridine ligands. The bipyridine ligands also lies on a twofold rotation axis and bridge the Co(II) ions, forming chains extending along [010]. An intra-chain O-H?O hydrogen bond is observed.

Project description:The hydro-thermal reaction of cobalt nitrate with 4,4'-bipyridine and 3-nitro-benzoic acid lead to the formation of the title complex, [Co(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n). In the crystal structure, the Co(II) atoms are coordinated by two terminal carboxyl-ate anions and four 4,4'-bipyridine ligands within slightly distorted octa-hedra. The Co(II) atom and one of the two independent 4,4'-bipyridine ligands are located on a twofold rotation axis, while the second independent 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecule is located on a centre of inversion. One of the two rings of one 4,4'-bipyridine ligand is disordered over two orientations and was refined using a split model [occupancy ratio 0.68?(2):0.32?(2)]. The Co(II) atoms are connected by the 4,4'-bipyridine ligands into layers, which are located parallel to the ab plane.

These are connected into supra-molecular layers by hydrogen bonding involving aqua ligands, perchlorate anions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules. A twofold inter-penetrated primitive cubic supra-molecular network is formed by the inter-action of pseudo-layers by hydrogen bonding between aqua ligands and unligated 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(9)H(5)O(6))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the asymmetric unit consists of one Co(2+) ion with site symmetry 2, one mono-deprotonated 1,3,5-benzene-tricarboxylic acid anion and one-half of a 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) mol-ecule, in which two N and two C atoms have site symmetry 2. In the crystal structure, the Co(2+) centre is coordinated by four O atoms from two bidentate carboxyl-ate groups of two anions and two N atoms of two 4,4'-bipy mol-ecules, resulting in infinite chains propagating in [010]. The cobalt coordination is distorted trans-CoO(4)N(2) octa-hedral and inter-chain O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds complete the structure.

Project description:The title compound, {[Cu(2)(C(8)H(5)Cl(2)O(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]NO(3)}(n) was prepared by reacting copper(II) nitrate with 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) and (2,4-dichloro-phen-oxy)acetic acid under solvothermal conditions. Each of two copper(I) atoms in the asymmetric unit is three-coordinated by two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipy ligands and one O atom from the (2,4-dichloro-phen-oxy)acetate ligand.
