ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [CdCl(2)(C(4)H(6)N(2))(3)], the Cd(II) atom displays a penta-coordinate CdN(3)Cl(2) coordination geometry, being coordinated by an N atom of three 2-methyl-imidazole ligands and two Cl atoms. In the crystal, the mononuclear complexes are linked by N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional network in the ab plane.

The two Cd(II) atoms have quite different coordination environments: one is octa-hedrally coordinated by four Cl atoms and two N atoms from two 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligands, and the second is in a severely distorted fivefold coordination by four Cl atoms and one N atom from a 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligand. Adjacent Cd(II) cations are inter-connected alternately by pairs of chloride bridges, generating an infinite step-like chain along the a axis. One ethyl group of the 1-ethyl-1H-imidazole ligand is disordered over two sets of sites with a 0.668?(13):0.332?(13) site-occupancy ratio.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)(C(3)H(4)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)], the Cd(II) atom is coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from two bidentate chelating 4-methyl-benzoate ligands, two N atoms from two imidazole ligands and one water mol-ecule in a distorted penta-gonal bipyramidal geometry. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecule and the carboxyl-ate O atoms of 4-methyl-benzoate lead to an infinite chain. These chains are further self-assembled into a two-dimensional layer through N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the imidazole ligands and carboxyl-ate groups. One of the imidazole ligands is disordered over two positions with site-occupancy factors of 0.737 (4) and 0.263 (4).

Project description:The Cd(II) atom in the title compound, [Cd(C(12)H(27)O(3)SSi)(2)(C(4)H(6)N(2)O)], is penta-coordinated by two O and two S atoms from the O,S-chelating silanethiol-ate residue and one N from the 4-hydroxy-methyl-imidazole ligand and shows a strongly distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The title complex is isostructural with its zinc analog. The hydroxy group of the ligand is involved in intra-molecular O-H⋯S hydrogen bonding and also acts as an acceptor in the formation of an inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond, which links mol-ecules of the complex into zigzag chains parallel to the b axis. One of the tert-butyl groups is disordered over two orientations with occupancies of 0.557 (12):0.443 (12).

The two coordinating and two of the lattice water mol-ecules are also located on twofold rotation axes. In the crystal, complex mol-ecules and solvent water mol-ecules are linked through a complex inter-molecular N-H⋯O, O-H⋯N, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding scheme into a three-dimensional network.
