Rac-(S,S)-Bis(1-ferrocenylbut-3-en-yl) ether.

ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Fe2(C5H5)2(C18H20O)], formed by dehydration of 1-ferrocenylbut-3-en-1-ol, crystallizes as a racemic compound. The central C-O-C fragment, in which the C atoms are the chiral centers, is characterized by an angle of 116.26?(10)° at the O atom. One ferrocene group shows a staggered conformation whereas the other shows an eclipsed conformation.

Project description:The title compounds, C36H28OP2S2, (1), and C36H28OP2Se2, (2), exhibit remarkably similar structures although they are not isomorphous. The whole mol-ecule of compound (2) is generated by twofold symmetry, with the ether O atom located on the twofold axis. Both compounds have intra-molecular ?-? inter-actions between terminal phenyl rings with centroid-centroid distances of 3.6214?(16) and 3.8027?(14)?Å in (1) and (2), respectively. In the crystal of (1), short C-H?S hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, forming chains along [001], while in (2) there are no analogous C-H?Se inter-actions present.

Project description:The title compound, C(16)H(12)Cl(2)O(3), crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angles between the planes of the benzene rings in the two independent mol-ecules are 68.65 (2) and 68.47 (3)°. The short distance of 3.899 (5) Å between the centroids of the benzene rings of neighbouring mol-ecules indicate π-π inter-actions. The crystal structure is stabilized by a network of intermolecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The five-coordinate Cu(II) atom in the title complex [CuCl2(C16H19N3)]·0.5C4H10O, adopts a near-ideal square-pyramidal geometry (τ-5 = 0.01). The apical Cu-Cl distance is 0.2626 (6) Å longer than the basal Cu-Cl distance. Weak C-H⋯Cl interactions between pyridine rings and the Cl atoms of adjacent complex molecules are present. The solvent molecule, located on a twofold rotation axis, is situated in the voids of this arrangement. Copper atoms coordinated by tridentate nitro-gen-containing ligands have been found to be excellent promoters of Atom Transfer Radical Addition (ATRA) reactions.

Project description:The title compound, C(26)H(24)N(2)O(3), was synthesized by reduction of the corresponding Schiff base. The mol-ecule does not possess crystallographic or non-crystallographic symmetry. The dihedral angle between the oxygen-bridged benzene rings is 67.98 (8)°. Both hydroxyl groups are involved in O-H⋯O intra-molecular hydrogen bonding. The mol-ecules are linked into a two-dimensional network parallel to the (010) plane by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title benzyl Grignard reagent, [Mg(2)Br(2)(C(7)H(7))(2)(C(4)H(10)O)(2)], was obtained by reaction of benzyl bromide with magnesium in diethyl ether, followed by crystallization from toluene. The asymmetric unit comprises one half-mol-ecule, the structural dimeric unit being generated by inversion symmetry with an Mg⋯Mg distance of 3.469 (2) Å. The Mg(II) atom exhibits a distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry. The crystal packing is defined by van der Waals inter-actions only.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(44)H(32)P(2), conventionally abbreviated BINAP, is one half of the complete chiral BINAP mol-ecule, which adopts a C2 crystallographic point-group symmetry with a twofold axis splitting the mol-ecule in two identical halves; a center of symmetry between mol-ecules further determines the racemic pairs. Project description:In the course of substitution studies on the iron dihydrogen complex trans-[Fe(DMeOPrPE)(2)(H(2))H](BPh(4)) {DMeOPrPE = 1,2-bis-[bis-(methoxy-prop-yl)phosphino]ethane}, we discovered an unexpected transformation of the diphosphine ligand to a diphospho-nium dication without the use of any typical methyl-ating reagent. The P atoms in the dication of the title compound, C(20)H(46)O(4)P(2) (2+)·2C(24)H(20)B(-)·C(4)H(10)O, have a distorted tetra-hedral coordination with P-C(Me) distances of 1.791 (2) and 1.785 (2) Å. The P-C-C-P torsion angle about the central dimethyl-ene bridge is -168.3 (1)°.
