Crystal structure of bis-(?-2-benzoyl-benzoato-?(2) O:O')bis-[bis-(2,2'-bi-pyridine-?(2) N,N')manganese(II)] bis-(perchlorate).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Mn2(C6H5COC6H4COO)2(C10H8N2)4](ClO4)2, comprises a centrosymmetric binuclear cation and two perchlorate anions. In the complex cation, two Mn(II) atoms are bridged by two O atoms of two different 2-benzoyl-benzoate ligands, each Mn(II) atom being further coordinated by two 2,2'-bi-pyridine (bipy) ligands in a distorted octa-hedral environment. Within the binuclear mol-ecule, the Mn?Mn separation is 4.513?(7)?Å. Inter-molecular C-H?O and C-H? ? inter-actions link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

The title compound, [Mn2(C6H5COC6H4COO)2(C10H8N2)4](ClO4)2, comprises a centrosymmetric binuclear cation and two perchlorate anions. In the complex cation, two Mn(II) atoms are bridged by two O atoms of two different 2-benzoyl-benzoate ligands, each Mn(II) atom being further coordinated by two 2,2'-bi-pyridine (bipy) ligands in a distorted octa-hedral environment. Project description:In the title monomeric manganese(II) complex, [Mn(CH3COO)2(C10H8N2)(H2O)2], the metal ion is coordinated by a bidentate 2,2'-bi-pyridine (bpy) ligand, two water mol-ecules and two axial acetate anions, resulting in a highly distorted octa-hedral environment. The aqua ligands are stabilized by the formation of strong intra-molecular hydrogen bonds with the uncoordinated acetate O atoms, giving rise to pseudo-bridging arrangement of the terminal acetate groups. In the crystal, the mol-ecules form [010] zigzag chains via O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the aqua ligands and acetate O atoms. Further, the water and bpy ligands are trans to each other, and are arranged in an off-set fashion showing inter-molecular ?-? stacking between nearly parallel bi-py rings, the centroid-centroid separations being 3.8147?(12) and 3.9305?(13)?Å.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the polymeric title compound, [Mn(NCS)2(C10H8N2)] n , the Mn(II) cations are coordinated by one chelating 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligand and four thio-cyanate anions (two N- and two S-coordinating), forming a distorted [MnN4S2] octa-hedron. The asymmetric unit consists of one manganese cation located on a twofold rotation axis and half of a 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligand, the other half being generated by the same twofold rotation axis, as well as one thio-cyanate anion in a general position. The Mn(II) cations are linked by two pairs of ?1,3-bridging thio-cyanate ligands into chains along the c axis; because the N atoms of the 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands, as well as the N and the S atoms of the thio-cyanate anions, are each cis-coordinating, these chains show a zigzag arrangement.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the mononuclear title compound, [Mn(NCS)2(C10H8N2)2]·C10H8N2, the Mn(II) cation is coordin-ated in an all-cis configuration by two N-bound thio-cyanate anions and two 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands within a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. The asymmetric unit consists of one Mn(II) cation, two thio-cyanate anions and two 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands, as well as two non-coordinating 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands that are each located on centres of inversion. In the crystal structure, the discrete [Mn(NCS)2(C10H8N2)2] complex mol-ecules are arranged in such a way that cavities are formed, in which the solvent 2,2'-bi-pyridine mol-ecules are located. Apart from van der Waals forces, there are no remarkable inter-molecular inter-actions present in the crystal structure.

In the complex cation [Mn(2)(C(2)O(4))(C(10)N(2)H(8))(4)](2+), two Mn(II) atoms are bridged by a bis-(bidentate) oxalate ligand, each Mn(II) atom being further coordinated by two bpy ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The distance between the two six-coordinated metal atoms is 5.583?(1)?Å. ?-? stacking inter-actions [inter-planar distances between bpy rings = 3.739?(1)?Å] are essential to the supramolecular assembly. There are extensive inter-ionic C-H?O inter-actions between the cations and between the cation and anion. Three of the four perchlorate O atoms are disordered over two sets of sites with occupancy ratios of 0.852?(6):0.148?(6).

In the crystal structure, the complex mol-ecules, anions and solvent water mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds. Three of the four perchlorate anions are disordered over two sets of sites in different ratios.

Each Co(II) atom is coordinated by four O atoms in a distorted square-planar arrangement while the N atoms are located in apical positions. The dihedral angles between the rings comprising each of the 4,4'-bipyridyl ligands are 25.2?(2) and 22.8?(2)°. In the crystal, the three-dimensional network is assembled by O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds.
