ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [NH(3)(CH(2))(5)NH(3)][PdCl(4)], the square-planar [PdCl(4)](2-) anions are centrosymmetric while the diammonium cation lies in a general position. In addition to electrostatic inter-actions, the two species are linked through N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional network.

The Cd atom is located on an inversion centre and the coordination environment is described as highly distorted octa-hedral.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C6H18N2)[ZnCl4], consists of one tetra-chlorido-zincate anion and two half-N,N,N'N'-tetra-methyl-ethylenedi-ammonium cations. Each of the two di-ammonium cations is located about an inversion center and one of them is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.780 (17):0.220 (17) ratio. The Zn(II) atom has a slightly distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment. The cations and anions are connected via N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds into chains extending along [0-11].

Project description:The centrosymmetric dinuclear Cu(II) complex, [Cu(2)Cl(4)(C(24)H(21)N(5)O(4))(2)], was synthesized by the reaction of CuCl(2)·2H(2)O with the tripodal ligand 2,2'-[3-(1H-imid-azol-4-ylmeth-yl)-3-aza-pentane-1,5-di-yl]diphthalimide (L). Each of the Cu(II) ions is coordinated by two N atoms from the ligand, two bridging Cl atoms and one terminal Cl atom. The Cu(II) coordination can be best be described as a transition state between four- and five-coordination, since one of the bridging Cl atoms has a much longer Cu-Cl bond distance [2.7069 (13) Å] than the other [2.2630 (12) Å]. In addition, the Cu⋯Cu distance is 3.622 (1) Å. The three-dimensional structrure is generated by N-H⋯O, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.658 (4) and 4.020 (4) Å].

Project description:A tetra-nuclear ZnII complex, [Zn4(C13H11N6O)2Cl6(H2O)2] or {[Zn2(HL)(H2O)(Cl2)](μCl)2[Zn2(HL)(H2O)(Cl)]}2, was synthesized by mixing an equimolar amount of a methanol solution containing ZnCl2 and a methanol solution containing the ligand H2 L [1,5-bis-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-ene)carbono-hydrazide]. In the tetra-nuclear complex, each of the two ligand mol-ecules forms a dinuclear unit that is connected to another dinuclear unit by two bridging chloride anions. In each dinuclear unit, one ZnII cation is penta-coordinated in a N2OCl2 in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, while the other ZnII cation is hexa-coordinated in a N3OCl2 environment with a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The basal plane around the penta-coordinated ZnII cation is formed by one chloride anion, one oxygen atom, one imino nitro-gen atom and one pyridine nitro-gen atom with the apical position occupied by a chloride anion. The basal plane of the hexa-coordinated ZnII cation is formed by one chloride anion, one hydrazinyl nitro-gen atom, one imino nitro-gen atom and one pyridine nitro-gen atom with the apical positions occupied by a water oxygen atom and a bridged chloro anion from another dinuclear unit, leading to a tetra-nuclear complex. A series of intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds is observed in each tetra-nuclear unit. In the crystal, the tetra-nuclear units are connected by inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a planar two-dimensional structure in the ac plane.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [(CH(3))(2)NH(CH(2))(2)NH(CH(3))(2)][CoCl(4)], contains a tetra-chlorido-cobalt-ate(II) dianion and two halves of two centrosymmetric, crystallographically-independent, dications. One independent dication is disordered between two conformations in a 0.784?(13):0.216?(13) ratio. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link cations and anions into chains propagated in [01]. These hydrogen bonds contribute to the distorted tetra-hedral geometry at the Co(II) atom.

Project description:The reaction of mercury(II) chloride dihydrate, propane-1,3-diamine and 4-hydroxy-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid in a 1:1:1 molar ratio in aqueous solution, resulted in the formation of the title compound, (C(3)H(12)N(2))[Hg(C(7)H(3)NO(5))Cl(H(2)O)](2)·4H(2)O or (pnH(2))[Hg(hypydc)Cl(H(2)O)](2)·4H(2)O (where pn is propane-1,3-diamine and hypydcH(2) is 4-hydroxy-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid). The metal atom is coordinated by one chloride group, one water mol-ecule cis to the chloride ligand and one (hypydc)(2-) ligand. The coordinated water mol-ecule is almost perpendicular to the plane of the aromatic ring of (hypydc)(2-). The geometry of the resulting HgClNO(3) coordination can be described as distorted square-pyramidal. This structure also contains propane-1,3-diammonium (site symmetry 2) as a counter-ion and four uncoordinated water mol-ecules. There is a wide range of non-covalent inter-actions consisting of hydrogen bonding [of the types O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O, with D⋯A ranging from 2.548 (5) to 3.393 (6) Å] and ion pairing.

Dimorpholinium tetra-chlorido-cobaltate(II).

Project description:In the title mol-ecular salt, (C(4)H(10)NO)(2)[CoCl(4)], the morpholinium cations adopt chair conformations and the tetra-chloridocobaltate(II) anion is significantly distorted from regular tetra-hedral geometry [Cl-Co-Cl = 102.183 (19)-117.59 (2)°]. The Co-Cl bond lengths for the chloride ions not accepting hydrogen bonds are significantly shorter than those for the chloride ions accepting such bonds. In the crystal, the components are linked by N-H⋯O and N-H⋯Cl and bifurcated N-H⋯(O,Cl) hydrogen bonds to generate (100) sheets.

Project description:In the title dinuclear copper complex, [Cu(2)Cl(4)(C(29)H(34)N(6))]·1.5H(2)O, both Cu(II) ions are coordinated in a slightly distorted square-pyramidal environment in which the N atoms of the dipicolyl-amine group and a chloride ligand form the basal plane. The apical position is occupied by a second chloride atom. The Cu-N distances involving the pyridine N atoms differ slightly from each other and the Cu-N distance involving the tertiary N atom is the longest. The apical Cu-Cl distance is elongated compared to its basal counterpart due to typical Jahn-Teller distortion. In the crystal structure, complex and water mol-ecules are linked via inter-molecular O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds into chains along [001]. One of the water mol-ecules was refined with half occupancy.

Bis(creatininium) tetra-chlorido-cadmate(II).

Project description:In the title compound, (C(4)H(8)N(3)O)(2)[CdCl(4)], the asymmetric unit comprises two creatininium cations and one tetra-chloridocadmate anion. Cd?O secondary bonding links one of the two imidazole rings and the anion into ion pairs. The free and bound cations form layers between which the [CdCl(4)](2-) anions are sandwiched. The Cd(II) atom adopts a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry in which the Cd?O bond is axial. Inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds form a two-dimensional network parallel to (001) which ensures the junction between creatininium cations and [CdCl(4)](2-) anions.
