Triazido-[tris-(2-pyridyl-κN)methyl-amine]cobalt(III).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Co(N(3))(3)(C(16)H(14)N(4))], was synthesized by hydro-thermal reaction of [Co(NH(3))(6)](NO(3))(3), NaN(3) and tris-(2-pyrid-yl)methyl-amine. The structure contains two independent complexes in the asymmetric unit, with closely comparable geometry. The Co(III) atoms are hexa-coordinated by three N atoms from the tridentate tris-(2-pyrid-yl)methyl-amine ligands and three azide ions in a fac arrangement. N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are formed between the amino group and the uncoordinated terminal N atoms of the azide ligands.

Project description:In the title complex, [Co(C(10)H(6)O(2))(C(18)H(18)N(4))]PF(6)·0.5H(2)O, the Co(III) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by four N atoms from a tris-(2-pyridyl-meth-yl)amine ligand and two O atoms from a naphthalene-2,3-diolate ligand. The asymmetric unit contains two complex cations, two hexa-fluoridophosphate anions and one uncoordinated water mol-ecule. In one of the hexa-fluoridophosphate anions, four of the F aroms are disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.632 (11):0.368 (11) ratio. In the crystal, the cations, anions and water mol-ecules are connected by O-H⋯O and O-H⋯F hydrogen bonds. π-π inter-actions are present between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.814 (1) Å].

Project description:In the title complex, [Co(CN)(2)(C(18)H(18)N(4))]PF(6), the Co(III) atom together with one of the pyridyl rings and two cyanide anions are located on a mirror plane, while the P atom is located on an inversion centre. The Co(III) atom exhibits an octa-hedral geometry, coordinated by four N atoms from the tris-(2-pyridyl-meth-yl)amine ligand with an average Co-N distance of 1.953?(2)?Å, and two cyanide C atoms with an average Co-C distance of 1.895?(2)?Å. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H?N and C-H?F inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(CO(3))(C(10)H(9)N(3))(2)]Br, a distorted octa-hedral coordination of the Co(III) atom is completed by four N atoms of the two chelating di-2-pyridyl-amine ligands and two O atoms of the chelating carbonate anion. The di-2-pyridyl-amine ligands are nonplanar and the dihedral angles between the 2-pyridyl groups are 29.11 (9) and 37.15 (12)°. The coordination cation, which has approximate C(2) symmetry, is connected to the bromide ion via an N-H⋯Br(-) hydrogen bond. The ionic pair thus formed is further assembled into a dimer via N-H⋯O inter-actions about an inversion centre. A set of weaker C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Br(-) inter-actions connect the dimers into a three-dimensional network.

The perchlorate ion is disordered over two sites with equal occupancy. One dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule lies on a general position and is disordered over two coplanar orientations with equal occupancy. In the cation, the three rings formed by the ethyl-enediamine units and the Co(III) metal ion are in slightly distorted twist conformations. Numerous O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O, N-H⋯I and O-H⋯I inter-molecular hydrogen bonds between the cation and two anions in concert with the four water mol-ecules dominate the crystal packing and create a supra-molecular infinite three-dimensional framework.

Project description:The search for new mol-ecular materials with inter-esting magnetic properties, using the pseudohalide azide ion and di-2-pyridyl-amine (dpa, C10H9N3) as a chelating ligand, led to the synthesis and structure determination of the title compound, [Co(N3)2(dpa)2]2SO4·2H2O. The crystal structure comprises discrete [Co(dpa)2(N3)2](+) cations, sulfate anions, as well as H2O solvent mol-ecules. The Co(III) cations display a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere defined by two N atoms from azide anions and four N atoms from the pyridyl rings of two dpa ligands. In the crystal, extensive C-H⋯O, N-H⋯O, and O-H⋯O inter-actions result in supra-molecular sheets that lie parallel to the ab plane. The sheets are further linked through O-H⋯N inter-actions between the water mol-ecules of one sheet and azide anions of another sheet, forming a supra-molecular framework.
