(?-Cyclo-penta-dien-yl){[3-(2,2-dicyano-ethen-yl)bicyclo-[2.2.1]hepta-2,5-dien-2-yl]ethyn-yl}(triphenyl-phosphine)nickel(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Ni(C(5)H(5))(C(13)H(7)N(2))(C(18)H(15)P)] or (?(5)-C(5)H(5))(PPh(3))Ni-C C-C(7)H(6)-C(H)=C(CN)(2), contains an unusual disubstituted norbornadienyl (NBD) ligand containing ethynyl (-C C-) and dicyano-vinyl [-C(H)=C(CN)(2)] groups. Disorder is present in the NBD group with site occupancies of 0.636?(10) and 0.364?(10) for two distinct orientations. There are no strong hydrogen bonds and the primary inter-actions are weak C-H??(arene) inter-actions.

Project description:The reaction of bis-(anthracene)cobaltate(-I) with excess cyclo-hepta-triene, C7H8, resulted in a new 18-electron cobaltate containing two different seven-membered ring ligands, based on single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The asymmetric unit of this structure contains two independent cation-anion pairs of the title complex, [K(18-crown-6)][Co(η(3)-C7H7)(η(5)-C7H9)], where 18-crown-6 stands for 1,4,7,10,13,16-hexa-oxa-cyclo-octa-decane (C12H24O6), in general positions and well separated. Each (18-crown-6)potassium cation is in contact with the η(3)-coordinating ligand of one cobaltate complex. Each η(3)-coordinating ligand behaves as an allylic anion whose exo-diene moiety is bent away from the allylic plane, and thus is not involved directly in the bonding. The metal-coordinating portions of the anionic η(5) ligands are planar and one of these ligands is modeled as disordered over two positions, with occupancy ratio 0.699 (5):0.301 (5), such that one orientation is rotated by one carbon atom with respect to the other. The diffraction intensities were integrated according to non-merohedral twin law [-1 0 0/0 -1 0/0.064 0 1], a 180° rotation about reciprocal lattice axis [001], and the masses of the twin domains refined to equal amounts. As both ligands are formally coordinated as anions, the cobalt atom is best considered to be Co(I). This compound is of inter-est as the first to possess cyclo-hepta-trienyl and cyclo-hepta-dienyl ligands in an anionic metal complex.

Project description:In the title complex, [PdBr(2)(C(7)H(8))], the Pd(II) ion lies in a distorted square-planar environment defined by the two Br atoms and the mid-points of the two ?-coordinated double bonds of bicyclo-[2.2.1]hepta-2,5-diene. The complex is disposed about a crystallographic mirror plane parallel to the ac plane passing through the Pd, Br atoms and the centre of the diene ligand.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(5)H(5))(C(18)H(15)P)(2)]·0.2C(7)H(8)·0.25C(6)H(14), was synthesized by the reaction of cobaltocene, Cp(2)Co, with elemental lithium in tetra-hydro-furan in the presence of two equivalents of PPh(3). The mol-ecular structure displays a cobalt(I) center in a distorted trigonal-planar coordination environment, with one Cp and two phosphane ligands. There are two crystallographically independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit besides the disordered solvent molecules.

Project description:The title compound, C(14)H(15)BrO(2), contains a sterically unencumbered norbornyl group. The dihedral angle between the plane of the carboxyl-ate group and the mean plane of the adjacent benzene ring is 5.3?(2)°. The dihedral angle between the plane of the carboxyl-ate group and the norbornyl methano C-O bond is 4.5?(1)°, the methano C atom deviating by 0.141?(2)?Å from this plane. In the crystal, mol-ecules pack as pairs of enanti-omers, with a distance of 3.747?(1)?Å between the centroids of nearest parallel benzene rings.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(13)H(9))(C(28)H(20))], the Co atom is sandwiched between cyclo-penta-dienyl and cyclo-butadienyl rings that are inclined at a dihedral angle of 2.6?(3)°. The four phenyl rings are tilted with respect to the cyclo-butadienyl plane so that the C(4)Ph(4) unit constitutes a four-bladed propeller. The phenyl ring of the phenyl-alkyne substituent is inclined to the cyclo-penta-dienyl ring at an angle of 34.92?(18)°. The crystal structure is stabilized solely by C-H?? inter-actions which generate a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, C(14)H(13)BrO(2), which contains a norbornenyl group and a 4-bromo-benzoate ester at the single C-atom bridge, has been redetermined [see McDonald & Trotter (1965 ▶). Acta Cryst.19, 456-463] to modern standards to establish high-precision geometrical data to compare with norbornyl and other tetra-cyclic 4-bromo-benzoates. Possible structural evidence is sought to help explain solvolytic reactivities.

Project description:At 223 (2) K, the complexed rings in the iron(II) complex cation of the title salt, [Fe(C(5)H(5))(C(15)H(20)O(4))]PF(6), are almost parallel [dihedral angle between planes = 4.10 (14)°]. Among the C atoms of the complexed arene ring, the quaternary C atom is located at the longest distance from the Fe atom. The F atoms of the PF(6) (-) anion were found to be equally disordered over two sites.

The distance between the Ru atom and the centroid of the benzene ring is 1.706 (5) Å and the distance between the Ru atom and the cyclo-penta-dienyl ring is 1.811 (5) Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds. The H atoms of the methyl groups which lie on the mirror plane are disordered over two sites with equal occupancies.
