Catena-Poly[[diiodidomercury(II)]-μ-nicotine-κN:N'].

ABSTRACT: The title polymeric complex, [HgI(2)(C(10)H(14)N(2))](n), was prepared from a solution of nicotine, mercury(II) iodide and 4-cyano-pyridine in dimethyl-formamide. Each nicotine mol-ecule is bonded to two Hg atoms, one through the pyrrolidine N atom and the other through the pyridine N atom, forming infinite zigzag polymeric chains. The coordin-ation around mercury is completed by two iodide ligands, resulting in a distorted tetra-hedral arrangement.

Project description:The central CuN(4)O(2) motif of the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(8)H(6)N(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), exhibits a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral geometry around the metal centre, showing a considerably long Cu-O bond distance of 2.634 (4) Å towards the second perchlorate group occupying the sixth coordination site, giving a (4+1+1)-type coordination mode. The 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands are highly twisted with respect to each other, the dihedral angle between the two pyridyl ring planes being 38.9 (2)°. The bipy ligands act as bridging ligands between [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(2,2'-bpym)] (2,2'-bpym is 2,2'-bipyrimidine) units, generating an infinite one-dimensional zigzag chain along [010]. Intra- and intermolecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are present in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [CoCl(2)(C(13)H(14)N(2))](n), 1,3-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)propane (bpp) ligands bridge four-coordinate Co atoms, generating an extended one-dimensional zigzag chain. Both the Co and two Cl atoms in the tetrahedral coordination polyhedron lie on a mirror plane, while the bbp ligand is bis-ected through the central C atom in the chain by a second mirror plane. There are some π-π stacking inter-ations in the crystal structure, with inter-planar distances of 3.449 Å, which are responsible for the supra-molecular assembly.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(4)H(4)O(4))(C(9)H(7)N)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Co(II) cation, located on an inversion center, is coordinated by two succinate anions, two isoquinoline ligands and two water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The succinate anion, located across another inversion center, bridges the Co cations, forming polymeric chains running along the b axis. The partially overlapped arrangement of parallel isoquinoline ring systems of adjacent polymeric chains and the shorter face-to-face distance of 3.402 (6) Å indicates the existence of weak π-π stacking in the crystal structure. Classical intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and weak non-classical inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding help to stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the crystal of the title polymeric compound, [HgI(2)(C(4)H(5)N(3))](n), the Hg(II) cation is located on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by two I(-) anions and two 2-amino-pyrazine ligands in a distorted HgI(2)N(2) tetra-hedral geometry. In the crystal, the 2-amino-pyrazine ligand is equally disordered over two positions about an inversion center, and bridges the Hg(II) cations with pyrazine N atoms to form a polymeric chain running along the c axis. In the polymeric chain, the amino groups link to the coordinated I(-) anions via inter-molecular N-H?I hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Ag(C(3)H(3)N(2))](n), has an infinite helical chain structure in which each pyrazolate group bridges two Ag(I) atoms related by a 2(1) axis with an intra-chain Ag⋯Ag separation of 3.3718 (7) Å. Each Ag(I) center is linearly coordinated by two N atoms [N-Ag-N angle = 169.98 (14)°]. The chains are held together by inter-chain Ag⋯Ag inter-actions [3.2547 (6) Å], forming a two-dimensional layer. The X-ray single-crystal diffraction result is consonant with that of the ab initio X-ray powder diffraction reported by Masciocchi, Moret, Cairati, Sironi, Ardizzoia & La Monica [J. Am. Chem. Soc. (1994). 116, 7668-7676], with only minor deviations of structural parameters.
