3-Amino-5-bromo-2-iodo-pyridine.

ABSTRACT: The reaction of 3-amino-5-bromo-pyridine with N-iodo-succinimide in the presence of acetic acid produces the title compound, C(5)H(4)BrIN, with an iodo substituent in position 2 of the pyridine ring. The crystal structure features rather weak inter-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds linking the mol-ecules into chains along the z axis of the crystal.

Project description:The structure of the title salt, (C5H6BrN2)[ZnCl3(C5H5BrN2)], consists of discrete 2-amino-5-bromo-pyridin-1-ium cations and distorted tetra-hedral (2-amino-5-bromo-pyridine)-tri-chlorido-zincate anions. In the crystal, the complex anions and cations are linked via N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds into layers parallel to (101). Short Br⋯Cl contacts of 3.4239 (11) and 3.4503 (12) Å are observed, as well as π-π stacking inter-actions between the pyridine and pyridinium rings, with alternating centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.653 (2) and 3.845 (2) Å.

Project description:In the title adduct, C(5)H(5)BrN(2)·C(7)H(6)O(2), the carboxyl group of the benzoic acid mol-ecule is twisted away from the attached ring by 12.97 (11)°. The 2-amino-5-bromo-pyridine mol-ecules inter-act with the carboxylic group of neighbouring benzoic acid mol-ecules through N-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming cyclic R(2) (2)(8) hydrogen-bonded motifs and linking the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional network lying parallel to (100). The crystal structure is further stabilized by weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Adjacent chains are crosslinked via further N-H?O inter-actions into sheets lying parallel to (001). The crystal studied was an inversion twin with a 0.54?(2):0.46?(2) domain ratio.
