[N,N-Bis(diphenyl-phosphino)isopropyl-amine]dibromidonickel(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [NiBr(2)(C(27)H(27)NP(2))], was synthesized by the reaction of NiBr(2)(dme) (dme is 1,2-dimethoxy-ethane) with N,N-bis-(diphenyl-phosphino)isopropyl-amine in methanol/tetra-hydro-furan. The nickel(II) center is coordinated by two P atoms of the chelating PNP ligand, Ph(2)PN(iPr)PPh(2), and two bromide ions in a distorted square-planar geometry.

Project description:The Pt(II) atom in the title compound, [PtCl(2)(C(27)H(27)NP(2))], has a highly distorted square-planar geometry, as evidenced by the P-Pt-P bite angle [72.4?(1)°]. The strain in the complex is further illustrated by the distorted tetra-hedral angles of the P atoms, which range between 93.5?(1) and 122.2?(1)°. It is of inter-est to note that the N atom has to adopt an almost planar geometry with the two P atoms and the C atom attached to it [it is displaced by 0.093?(2)?Å from the CP(2) plane] in order to accommodate the steric bulk of the phenyl groups and the alkyl group of the ligand coordinated to the Pt(II) centre. The mol-ecules pack in horizontal rows across the bc plane. C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal packing.

Project description:In the title compound, C(26)H(25)NP(2), the diphenyl-phosphino groups are staggered relative to the PNP backbone, even though the ethyl substituent coordinated to the N atom is not sterically bulky. The N atom adapts an almost planar geometry with two P atoms and a C atom of the allyl group attached to it in order to accommodate the steric bulk of the phenyl groups and the alkyl group. The distortion of the trigonal-pyramidal geometry of the nitro-gen is further illustrated by the bond angles which range between 114.0?(1) and 123.7?(1)°. There are no classical inter-molecular inter-actions.

[Bis-(diphenyl-phosphino)methane-?P,P']dichloridopalladium(II).

Project description:The title complex, [PdCl(2)(C(25)H(22)P(2))], is a slightly distorted square-planar bis-(diphenyl-phosphino)methane cis-complex of PdCl(2). The structure of a polymorph of the title compound has been described earlier, but the arrangement of the mol-ecules observed in the current structure is distinctively different from that previously reported [Steffen & Palenik (1976 ?). Inorg. Chem.15, 2432-2439]. The earlier report describes a structure with individual well separated mol-ecules crystallizing in space group P2(1)/n. The polymorph described here, which is isostructrural to its Pt analogue [Babai et al. (2006 ?). Z. Anorg. Allg. Chem.632, 639-644], crystallizes in C2/c with chains of C2-symmetric mol-ecules stretching parallel to the b axis. The Pd atoms and the bis-phosphino-methane units are located on two different positions created by a non-crystallographic mirror operation with an occupancy of 0.6677?(11) for the major (PCH(2)P)Pd moiety. The positions of the Cl atoms of the minor moiety do coincide perfectly with those of the next mol-ecule along the chain parallel to b, and they are thus not included in the disorder. The phenyl rings also do not take part in the disorder and are common to both the major and minor moieties of the (PCH(2)P)PdCl(2) units. Assuming no defects, mol-ecules in each chain will thus have to be oriented the same way and the effect of the disorder of the (PCH(2)P)Pd unit is thus a reversal in direction of the chains parallel to b. The presence of light streaks of intensity between actual Bragg peaks indicates that a somehow ordered arrangement not resolved in the Bragg diffraction data may be present (i.e. an incommensurate superstructure) rather than a random or domain arrangement of the chains.

Project description:The diphenyl-phosphine groups in the title compound, C(29)H(31)NP(2), are staggered relative to the PNP backbone. The N atom adopts an almost planar geometry with the two P atoms and the C atom attached to it, in order to accommodate the steric bulk of the phenyl groups and the alkyl group. Three C atoms of the 1,2-dimethylpropylamine group are disordered over two positions in a 9:1 ratio. The mol-ecules pack diagonally in the unit cell across the ac plane in a head-to-tail fashion.

Project description:The title compound, [Pd(C(18)H(14)PS)(2)], was synthesized by the reaction of (Ph(2)PC(6)H(4)SH) with [PdCl(2)(NCC(6)H(5))(2)] in a 2:1 molar ratio in the presence of a slight excess of NEt(3 )as base in dichloro-methane. The compound crystallizes with the Pd(II) atom on a twofold rotation axis. The palladium center has a slightly distorted square-planar environment, with the two P-S chelating ligands adopting a cis configuration. The present structure is a pseudo-polymorph of [Pd(C(18)H(14)PS)(2)]·CH(2)Cl(2).

Project description:The title centrosymmetric complex, [Cu(2)(CN)(2)(C(26)H(24)P(2))(3)]·2CH(3)OH, consists of two five-membered [Cu(dppe)CN] rings [dppe is 1,2-bis-(diphenyl-phosphino)ethane] bridged by one ?(2)-dppe ligand, and two methanol solvent mol-ecules. The angles around the central metal atom indicate that each Cu(I) atom is located in the center of a distorted tetra-hedron. The coordination sphere of each Cu(I) atom is formed by three P atoms from two dppe ligands, and one C atom from the cyanide ligand. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H?N hydrogen bonds, which are formed by the O-H donor group from methanol and the N-atom acceptor from a cyanide ligand.

4,6-Bis(diphenyl-phosphino)phenoxazine (nixantphos).

Project description:The title compound, C(36)H(27)NOP(2), has been reported as a ligand on rhodium for the catalysis of hydro-formyl-ation reactions. The key feature of the compound is the intra-molecular P⋯P distance of 4.255 (2) Å. The bond angles at the P atoms range from 99.93 (10) to 103.02 (10)°. The phenoxazine ring system is essentially planar and a non-crystallographic mirror plane through the N⋯O vector bis-ects the mol-ecule. The C-O bond lengths range from 1.388 (2) to 1.392 (2) Å and the C-N bond lengths range from 1.398 (3) to 1.403 (3) Å.

Project description:The title compound, [Pt(2)(C(16)H(11)N(2))(2)(C(18)H(17)N(2)P)](ClO(4))(2), contains two Pt(II) atoms, bridged by an N-[(diphenyl-phosphino)meth-yl]pyridin-2-amine (dppmp) ligand. One Pt atom is coordinated by one P atom from the dppmp ligand, and one C atom and two N atoms from a 6-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine (pbpy) ligand in a square-planar geometry. The other Pt atom is coordinated by one N atom from the dppmp ligand, and one C atom and two N atoms from another pbpy ligand in a square-planar geometry. There are intra-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the pbpy ligands, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.62?(1)?Å between two pyridyl rings. The oxygen atoms of both perchlorate anions are disordered, each over two different positions [occupanicies 0.49?(3)/0.51?(3) and 0.48?(2)/0.52?(2)].

Bis[bis-(diphenyl-phosphino-yl)acetonitrile-?O,O']copper(II).

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(C(26)H(20)NO(2)P(2))(2)], contains a central Cu(II) atom surrounded by two homoleptic bidentate ligands, which form two five-membered chelate rings. The Cu atom binds to four O atoms, resulting in a four-coordinate square-planar complex. The asymmetric unit contains half of the complex, the other half being completed by inversion symmetry. The Cu-O bond lengths have similar distances, viz. 1.9153?(10)?Å for the pair opposite (trans) each other and 1.9373?(10)?Å for the other (trans) pair. The P-O bond lengths are 1.5250?(11)?Å, indicating significant electron delocalization across the O-P-C-P-O atoms in the chelate ring, resulting in a longer P-O bond length when compared to a formal double-bond P=O character (much shorter at approximately 1.47?Å). The two inter-secting O-Cu-O angles are both linear at 180°, whilst the remaining L-shaped O-Cu-O bond angles are 88.26?(5) and 91.74?(5)°. The C-C N fragment is slightly distorted from linearity at 177.44?(19)° and the C N bond length of 1.151?(2)?Å indicates predominantly triple-bond character.

In the crystal, supra-molecular chains mediated by C-H?N inter-actions are formed, which run parallel to [001].
