Tetra-pyridine-bis(trichloro-acetato)nickel(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Ni(C(2)Cl(3)O(2))(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(4)], was prepared by the reaction of pyridine and trichloro-acetatonickel(II) in ethanol solution at room temperature. The Ni(II) atom is located on a twofold rotation axis and has a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination made up of four N atoms of the pyridine ligands and two O atoms of trichloro-acetate anions. The mol-ecular structure and packing are stabilized by intra- and inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:In the mononuclear title compound, [Ni(CH(3)COO)(2)(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)], the Ni(II) atom is coordinated by two pyridine-2-aldoxime (PaoH) ligands and two acetate groups, with cis coordination for the pairs of identical ligands. While each acetate group binds to the Ni(II) atom by one O atom, each PaoH chelates the Ni(II) atom through two N atoms. The O atom on PaoH is not deprotonated and does not participate in bonding to the Ni(II) atom. Thus, the Ni(II) atom exhibits an octa-hedral environment. Intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions and inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions are present in the structure. Adjacent mol-ecules pack along [100] through van der Waals forces.

The coordination of the metal atom is distorted square-pyramidal, with the bonding O atoms comprising a square basal plane and the coordinating N atom of the N-heterocycle occupying the apical position. The pyridine ring is twisted with respect to the benzene ring at a dihedral angle of 45.68?(16)°. Intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonding is present between the imino and carb-oxy groups.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(H(2)O)(6)][Ni(3)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(4)]·8H(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of nickel(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (pydcH(2)) and 1,10-phenanothroline (phen) in an aqueous solution. The latter ligand is not involved in formation of the title complex. There are three different Ni(II) atoms in the asymmetric unit, two of which are located on inversion centers, and thus the [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cation and the trinuclear {[Ni(pydc)(2)](2)-?-Ni(H(2)O)(4)}(2-) anion are centrosymmetric. All Ni(II) atoms exhibit an octa-hedral coordination geometry. Various inter-actions, including numerous O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-O?? stacking of the pyridine and carboxyl-ate groups [3.570?(1), 3.758?(1) and 3.609?(1)?Å], are observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title dinuclear ionic complex, [Cd(2)(C(4)H(4)N(2))(H(2)O)(8)][Cd(2)(CH(3)CO(2))(8)(C(4)H(4)N(2))], the cation and anion are disordered equally over a site with symmetry mmm. The Cd(II) ions and the N atoms of the bridging pyrazine ligand lie on the inter-section of two crystallographic mirror planes. The C atoms of the bridging pyrazine ligand lie on one of these mirror planes, and the acetate groups and water mol-ecules lie across the inter-secting mirror planes. Each Cd(II) atom in the cation is five-coordinated by four O atoms from four water mol-ecules and one N atom from the bridging pyrazine ligand, whereas each Cd(II) in the anion is nine-coordinated by four pairs of O atoms from the bidentate acetate ligands and one N atom from the bridging pyrazine ligand. In the crystal structure, each anion is surrounded by eight nearest-neighbour cations and vice versa. The crystal structure is stabilized by ionic inter-actions as well as by C-H?O inter-actions.
