ABSTRACT: The title anilide-imine compound, C(24)H(26)N(2)O, features an intra-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bond involving the imine and anilide groups to generate an S(6) ring motif. The mol-ecule displays an E configuration about the imine C=N double bond, with the dihedral angle between the two benzene rings being 86.5°. The packing is stabilized by three different C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(20)H(31)NO(8), has pseudo-C2 symmetry about the C-N bond, with the bis-(tert-butoxy-carbon-yl)amino group twisted from the benzene ring plane by ca 60° and the bulky tert-butoxy-carbonyl (Boc) groups are orientated away from the substituted aniline group. As part of an anti-bacterial drug discovery programme furnishing analogues of platensimycin, we unexpectedly synthesized the bis-Boc-protected aniline.

Project description:The title compound, C(16)H(18)N(2)O, an N-benzyl-ideneaniline derivative with substituents on both aromatic rings, crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. Both mol-ecules exist in the E configuration. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 8.20?(5)° for mol-ecule A and 12.52?(6)° for mol-ecule B, and the imino C-N torsion angle (?) is 7.1?(2)° for mol-ecule A and -14.7?(2)° for mol-ecule B. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are arranged in stacks which propagate along the a-axis direction. The crystal structure is stabilized by a number of weak C-H?? inter-actions.
