ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(16)H(18)N(2)O, the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 38.5?(2)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak C-H?N and C-H?O inter-actions and aromatic ?-? stacking [centroid-centroid separations = 3.620?(5) and 3.546?(4)?Å].

Both mol-ecules exist in the E configuration. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 8.20?(5)° for mol-ecule A and 12.52?(6)° for mol-ecule B, and the imino C-N torsion angle (?) is 7.1?(2)° for mol-ecule A and -14.7?(2)° for mol-ecule B. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are arranged in stacks which propagate along the a-axis direction. The crystal structure is stabilized by a number of weak C-H?? inter-actions.
