ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(10)H(11)NO(4), was formed from 4,1-benzoxazepine-2,5(1H,3H)-dione and ammonia gas. Intra-molecular hydrogen bonding is present between the amide N-H group and the carbonyl O atom of the ester group. The crystal structure features inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compound, C(16)H(16)N(2)O(5)S, has the shape of the letter V but with a small twist; the dihedral angle formed between the benzene rings is 79.66?(9)°. The presence of an intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond, leading to an S(6) ring, correlates with the near coplanarity of the carboxyl-ate ester group with the benzene ring to which it is connected. The acetamide residue is slightly twisted out of the plane of its benzene ring [C-C-N-C = 13.1?(3)°]. In the crystal, supra-molecular chains along the a axis are mediated by N-H?O hydrogen bonds. These are connected into layers via C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:A second monoclinic polymorph of methyl 4-hydroxy-benzoate, C(8)H(8)O(3), is reported. The unit-cell dimensions are different from those of the previously reported monoclinic form [Vujovic & Nassimbeni (2006 ?). Cryst. Growth Des.6, 1595-1597]. The asymmetric unit contains three crystallographically independent mol-ecules, as observed in the previous form. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-H?? inter-actions, which link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

In the crystal structure, the ions are linked into a two-dimensional network by N-H?O, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds. Within this network, the N-H?O hydrogen bonds generate R(2) (2)(8) ring motifs. In addition, ?-? inter-actions involving the pyridinium rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.7599?(4)?Å, are observed.

Project description:The title steroid, C(31)H(53)NO(4), was prepared from the corresponding 5α,6α-epoxy-cholestane. The conformation of the six-membered rings is close to a chair form, while the five-membered ring adopts a twist conformation. The hydroxyl and acetamide groups are in axial positions. The nucleophilic species bound to the steroid nucleus at position 6 by the β-face, whereas the hydroxyl group at position 5 has α-orientation. All rings are trans-fused. The crystal packing shows that the mol-ecules related by twofold symmetry exist as O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonded dimers.
