Di-?-chlorido-bis-{chlorido[(R)/(S)-1,5-di-phenyl-3-(2-pyridyl-?N)-2-pyrazoline-?N]zinc(II)}.

ABSTRACT: In the centrosymmetric binuclear title compound, [Zn(2)Cl(4)(C(20)H(17)N(3))(2)], the coordination geometry of the Zn(II) ion can be described as a distorted ZnN(2)Cl(3) trigonal bipyramid (? = 0.89), arising from the N,N'-bidentate ligand, a terminal chloride ion and two bridging chloride ions. The N atoms occupy one axial and one equatorial site and the terminal chloride ion occupies an equatorial site. The dihedral angle between the pyridine and pyrazole rings is 12.8?(2)°. In the crystal, aromatic ?-? stacking [centroid-centroid separations = 3.812?(3) and 3.848?(3)?Å] and C-H?Cl and C-H?? inter-actions help to establish the packing.

Project description:A tetra-nuclear ZnII complex, [Zn4(C13H11N6O)2Cl6(H2O)2] or {[Zn2(HL)(H2O)(Cl2)](μCl)2[Zn2(HL)(H2O)(Cl)]}2, was synthesized by mixing an equimolar amount of a methanol solution containing ZnCl2 and a methanol solution containing the ligand H2 L [1,5-bis-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-ene)carbono-hydrazide]. In the tetra-nuclear complex, each of the two ligand mol-ecules forms a dinuclear unit that is connected to another dinuclear unit by two bridging chloride anions. In each dinuclear unit, one ZnII cation is penta-coordinated in a N2OCl2 in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, while the other ZnII cation is hexa-coordinated in a N3OCl2 environment with a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The basal plane around the penta-coordinated ZnII cation is formed by one chloride anion, one oxygen atom, one imino nitro-gen atom and one pyridine nitro-gen atom with the apical position occupied by a chloride anion. The basal plane of the hexa-coordinated ZnII cation is formed by one chloride anion, one hydrazinyl nitro-gen atom, one imino nitro-gen atom and one pyridine nitro-gen atom with the apical positions occupied by a water oxygen atom and a bridged chloro anion from another dinuclear unit, leading to a tetra-nuclear complex. A series of intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds is observed in each tetra-nuclear unit. In the crystal, the tetra-nuclear units are connected by inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a planar two-dimensional structure in the ac plane.

Project description:The title compound, [Pd(2)Cl(4)(C(8)H(11)O(2)P)(2)], is binuclear and disposed about a crystallographic centre of symmetry with a Pd?Pd distance of 3.4662?(17)?Å. It has a similar geometry to that observed in the triphenyl-phosphite and triphenyl-phosphine analogues. The Pd-P bond length is ca 0.04?Å shorter than those in mononuclear PdCl(2)(P(OMe)(2)Ph)(2), possibly due to the lower trans-influence of the bridging Cl(-) compared to a single-bonded Cl(-) atom.

Project description:The centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Zn(2)Cl(4)(C(4)H(12)N(2))(2)], is isostructural with its previously reported Cu(II) analogue [Phelps, Goodman & Hodgson (1976 ?). Inorg. Chem.15, 2266-2270]. In the title compound, each of the Zn(II) ions is coordinated by two N atoms from a chelating N,N-dimethyl-ethylenediamine ligand, two bridging Cl atoms and one terminal Cl atom. The coordination environment is distorted square-pyramidal. The Zn-Cl bond distances of the two bridging Cl atoms are distinctly different: the equatorial Cl atom exbibits a Zn-Cl distance of 2.318?(1)?Å and the axial Cl atom exbibits a Zn-Cl distance of 2.747?(2)?Å, which is significantly longer. The mol-ecule can thus be seen as a dimer of two nearly square-planar monomeric units which are related to each other by an inversion center located in the middle of the dimer. Within one monomeric unit, the Zn atom, the two N atoms and the two Cl atoms are almost coplanar, with a mean deviation of only 0.05?(1)?Å from the associated least-squares plane. The Zn?Zn distance within the dimer is 3.472?(3)?Å. N-H?Cl and C-H?Cl hydrogen-bond inter-actions connect neighboring mol-ecules with each other.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title complex, [Zn(2)Cl(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], each of the two five-coordinated Zn(II) atoms displays a strongly distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry defined by two N atoms from the chelate ligand and by one terminal and two bridging chloride anions. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H⋯Cl inter-actions. There is inter-molecular π-π stacking between adjacent phenanthroline ligands, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.151 (3) Å.

Project description:In the title compound, (C(20)H(17)N(2))(2)[Pd(2)Cl(6)]·2C(6)H(6), the dichloride-bridged [Pd(2)Cl(6)](2-) anion lies across an inversion center with each Pd(II) ion in a slightly distorted square-planar environment. In the crystal structure, two cations and an anion are connected via N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds between the NH groups of the iminioisoindoline cations and terminal Cl atoms of a hexa-chloridodipalladate(II) anion. The Pd-Cl distance of the terminal chloride engaged in hydrogen bonding is slightly longer than the Pd-Cl distance of the adjacent terminal chloride which is not involved in hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title compound, [Pd(2)(C(11)H(14)NO)(2)Cl(2)], has a dimeric structure with Cl atoms bridging the two Pd atoms, one half of the mol-ecule being generated by symmetry due to the crystallographic inversion centre located in the middle of the perfectly planar Pd(2)Cl(2) ring. The five-membered ring adopts an envelope conformation, while the morpholino group has a chair conformation. The geometry around the metal centres is distorted square-planar, as a result of a strong intra-molecular N→Pd coordination trans to a Pd-Cl bond. In the crystal structure, the dimeric structure is strengthened by inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. C-H⋯C(phen-yl) inter-actions link the dimers into a columnar supra-molecular array along the a axis; the dimers are further connected by C-H⋯Ph inter-actions into a three-dimensional supra-molecular arrangement.

Project description:The centrosymmetric dinuclear Cu(II) complex, [Cu(2)Cl(4)(C(24)H(21)N(5)O(4))(2)], was synthesized by the reaction of CuCl(2)·2H(2)O with the tripodal ligand 2,2'-[3-(1H-imid-azol-4-ylmeth-yl)-3-aza-pentane-1,5-di-yl]diphthalimide (L). Each of the Cu(II) ions is coordinated by two N atoms from the ligand, two bridging Cl atoms and one terminal Cl atom. The Cu(II) coordination can be best be described as a transition state between four- and five-coordination, since one of the bridging Cl atoms has a much longer Cu-Cl bond distance [2.7069 (13) Å] than the other [2.2630 (12) Å]. In addition, the Cu⋯Cu distance is 3.622 (1) Å. The three-dimensional structrure is generated by N-H⋯O, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.658 (4) and 4.020 (4) Å].

Project description:The structure of the title complex, [ZnCl2(C11H9N3)2], comprises two 2-(phenyl-diazen-yl)pyridine ligands coordin-ating to a central Zn(II) dichloride unit via the pyridyl N-atom donors, resulting in a slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The complex exhibits twofold rotation symmetry, with the rotation axis bis-ecting the zinc cation. Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ru(C(19)H(13)N(5))(2)](PF(6))(2), consists of an Ru(II) complex cation and two hexa-fluoridophosphate anions. The Ru(II) atom is coordinated by three N atoms from the two outer pyridine and the central triazine rings of each of two tridentate ligands in a distorted octa-hedral environment. The ligands are approximately orthogonal to one another, with a dihedral angle of 88.34 (2)° between planes through the three six-membered rings of the two ligands. The pendant phenyl substituents are almost coplanar with the triazine rings to which they are bound, with dihedral angles of 5.41 (9) and 14.90 (10)°. This is reflected in the previously reported photophysical results with an increased lifetime of the triplet metal to ligand charge transfer ((3)MLCT) excited state [Fang, Taylor, Hanan, Loiseau, Passalacqua, Campagna, Nierengarten & Van Dorsselaer (2002). J. Am. Chem. Soc.124, 7912-7913].

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(2)Cl(2)(C(20)H(18)N(4))(H(2)O)(4)]Cl(2)·2C(2)H(6)O, the coordination environment of each Ni(2+) ion is distorted octa-hedral formed by two N atoms from the Schiff base ligand, two O atoms from water mol-ecules and two chloride anions acting as μ(2) bridges between the metal ions. The coordinated water mol-ecules are linked to the uncoordinated ethanol mol-ecules and chloride anions by O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, although the assignment of some of these is tentative. A weak inter-molecular O-H⋯N inter-action within the ligand is also observed.
