ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [MnBr(2)(C(8)H(6)N(4))(2)]·CH(3)NO(2), contains one half of a neutral Mn(II) complex and one half of a nitro-methane solvent mol-ecule, the complete mol-ecules being generated by the application of twofold symmetry. In the complex, the Mn(II) ion has a distorted cis-Br(2)N(4) octa-hedral coordination geometry defined by four N atoms of the two chelating 2,2'-bipyrimidine ligands and two Br(-) ions. There are intra- and inter-molecular C-H?Br and C-H?N contacts.

In the two complexes, both Mn(II) ions are six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment, but one Mn ion has a cis-N(5)O coordination geometry defined by four N atoms of the two chelating 2,2'-bipyrimidine (bpym) ligands, one N atom of a coordinating acetonitrile mol-ecule and one O atom of a water ligand, whereas the other Mn ion has a cis-N(4)O(2) coordination geometry defined by four N atoms of the two bpym ligands and two O atoms of water ligands. In the crystal structure, the complex mol-ecules, anions and solvent water mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds. Three of the four perchlorate anions are disordered over two sets of sites in different ratios.

The dihedral angle between the least-squares planes of the two bpym ligands (r.m.s deviation for all non-H atoms = 0.063?Å) is 85.04?(6)°. In the crystal, complex mol-ecules are connected by C-H?N and C-H?I hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. Mol-ecules are stacked in columns along the a axis. Along the c axis, successive mol-ecules stack in the opposite directions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Pd(2)Cl(4)(C(8)H(6)N(4))]·C(3)H(7)NO, the two Pd(2+) cations have a distorted square-planar coordination sphere and are bridged by a bis-bidentate 2,2'-bipyrimidine ligand. Two terminal chloride anions are also bonded to each of the Pd(2+) cations. The dinuclear complex and the dimethylformamide solvate molecule lie on the inter-section of a twofold rotation axis and a mirror plane, with disorder present in the solvate mol-ecule. There is a slight distortion from the square-planar metal geometry, as indicated by the bite angles of 81.77?(13)° and 91.63?(5)°. The C and O atoms of the solvent mol-ecule are disordered over two sets of sites of equal occupancy.

Project description:The reaction of [Pd(MeCN)(4)](BF(4))(2) with 2,2'-bipyrimidine (bpm) in MeCN-CHCl(3) afforded the title compound, [Pd(C(8)H(6)N(4))(2)](BF(4))(2)·C(2)H(3)N. The asymmetric unit contains two half complexes, with the Pd(II) atoms both lying on a twofold axis. Each metal atom adopts a tetra-hedrally distorted square-planar geometry. In the crystal, [Pd(bpm)(2)] dications are linked by C-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming chains parallel to the b axis. The chains are further linked by C-H?F and C-H?N inter-actions involving the tetra-fluoro-borate anions and acetonitrile mol-ecules. In this way, each chain interacts with six surrounding chains to generate the observed three-dimensional structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [PtCl(2)(C(9)H(7)N)(2)]·CH(3)NO(2), the Pt(II) cation is four-coordinated in an essentially square-planar environment by two N atoms from two quinoline ligands and two Cl(-) anions. One of the nearly planar quinoline ligands [maximum deviations = 0.042?(6) and 0.018?(7)?Å] is almost perpendicular to the PtCl(2)N(2) unit [maximum deviation = 0.024?(3)?Å], making a dihedral angle of 89.6?(1)°, whereas the other is slightly inclined to the central plane with a dihedral angle of 74.1?(1)°. The dihedral angle between the quinoline ligands is 88.3?(2)°. In the crystal, each solvent mol-ecule is linked to the metal complex by weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title complex, [Ru(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(C(5)H(6)N(2))(2)](PF(6))(2)·CH(3)CN, the Ru(II) atom is bonded to two α-diimine ligands, viz. 2,2'-bipyridine, in a cis configuration and to two 4-amino-pyridine (4Apy) ligands in the expected distorted octa-hedral configuration. The compound is isostructural with [Ru(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(C(5)H(6)N(2))(2)](ClO(4))(2)·CH(3)CN [Duan et al. (1999 ▶). J. Coord. Chem.46, 301-312] and both structures are stabilized by classical hydrogen bonds between 4Apy ligands as donors and counter-ions and acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules as acceptors. Indeed, N-H⋯F inter-actions give rise to an inter-molecularly locked assembly of two centrosymmetric complex mol-ecules and two PF(6) (-) counter-ions, which can be considered as the building units of both crystal architectures. The building blocks are connected to one another through hydrogen bonds between 4Apy and the connecting pieces made up of two centrosymmetric motifs with PF(6) (-) ions and acetonitrile mol-ecules, giving rise to ribbons running parallel to [011]. 2(1)-Screw-axis-related complex mol-ecules and PF(6) (-) counter-ions alternate in helical chains formed along the a axis by means of these contacts.
