Poly[diimidazole-?(4)-oxalato-?(2)-oxalato-dicopper(II)].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(2)O(4))(2)(C(3)H(4)N(2))(2)](n), was obtained as an unexpected product under hydro-thermal conditions. The Cu(II) atom is in a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral environment formed by one imidazole N atom and five O atoms from three oxalate anions. The two independent oxalate anions are situated on centres of inversion and coordinate to the Cu(II) atom in two different modes, viz. bidentate and monodentate. The bidentate anions bridge two Cu(II) atoms, whereas the monodentate anions bridge four Cu(II) atoms, leading to a layered arrangement parallel to (100). These layers are further linked into a final three-dimensional network structure via inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds. The title compound is isotypic with the Zn analogue.

As the methyl-ene groups can bend freely relative to each other due to the C atoms connected via single bonds, the 1,1'-(butane-1,4-di-yl)diimidazole ligand forms an S-shaped conformation, which makes the void in the three-dimensional network distorted.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(2)(C(4)H(4)O(5))(2)(H(2)O)](n), has a two-dimensional layer structure. The Cu atom has a distorted octa-hedral (CuO(6)) environment and is coordinated by four carboxyl-ate group O atoms from three different oxydiacetate ligands in a planar arrangement and one half-occupancy water mol-ecule and an ether O atom in the axial positions. Project description:The title complex, [Er(C(5)H(5)NO)(C(2)O(4))(H(2)O)](n), is a new erbium polymer based on oxalate and 4-oxidopyridinium ligands. The Er(II) center is coordinated by six O atoms from three oxalate ligands, one O atom from a 4-oxidopyridinium ligand and one water mol-ecule, and displays a distorted square-anti-prismatic coordination geometry. The oxalate ligands are both chelating and bridging, and link Er(II) ions, forming Er-oxalate layers in which the attached water and 4-oxidopyridinium units point alternately up and down. A mirror plane passes through the Er atom, one C, the oxide O and two oxalate O atoms. The layers are assembled into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network via inter-molecular hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances of 3.587 (2) Å between parallel pyridinium rings]. Both the water mol-ecule and the 4-oxidopyridinium ligand are disordered over two sites in a 1:1 ratio.

One nitrate O atom is disordered equally over two positions.
