ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Co(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)](C(2)Cl(3)O(2))(2), the Co(II) ion lies on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by six N atoms from three bis-chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligands in a distorted octa-hedral environment. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(2)Cl(3)O(2))Cl(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], was obtained by the reaction of trichloro-acetic acid and CoCl(2) in the presence of 1,10-phenanthroline. The Co(II) ion exhibits a distorted octa-hedral geometry, with three N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and the Cl(-) ion in the equatorial plane and one O atom from the trichloro-acetate ligand and one phenanthroline N atom in axial positions. This compound is isostructural with the analogous Mn(II) complex. The trichloro-methyl group of the trichloro-acetate ligand is disordered over two positions with occupancies of 0.190 (5) and 0.810 (5).

Project description:In the title complex, [Co(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)][CoI(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)][Bi(3)I(12)], conventionally abbreviated [Co(phen)(3)][CoI(phen)(2)(H(2)O)][Bi(3)I(12)], where phen is 1,10-phenanthroline, the Co(II) atom in one cation is coordinated by six N atoms from three phen ligands in an octa-hedral coordination while the Co(II) atom in the other cation is coordinated octa-hedrally by four N atoms from two phen ligands, one water O atom and one I atom. In the anion, three Bi(III) ions adopt an octa-hedral coordination constructed by six I(-) ligands. The three BiI(6) octa-hedra are fused together through trans face-sharing.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(14)H(6)Cl(6)N(2), contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules, each of which is slightly twisted from planarity. The dihedral angles between the central ring and the two outer rings are 3.81 (7) and 4.30 (7)° in one mol-ecule, and 4.13 (8) and 4.10 (7)° in the other. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are inter-linked by C-Cl⋯Cl inter-actions into sheets parallel to the ac plane. These sheets are stacked along the b axis in such a way that the mol-ecules are anti-parallel; they are further connected into a supra-molecular network. There are no classical hydrogen bonds. C⋯Cl [3.637 (2) Å], Cl⋯Cl [3.5639 (5)-3.6807 (8) Å] and Cl⋯N [3.3802 (15)-3.4093 (15) Å] short contacts and π-π inter-actions, with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.5868 (9)-3.7844 (9) Å, are observed.

The [Ag(CN)(2)](-) anions are situated within cavities created by the phenanthroline ligands of adjacent [Ni(phen)(3)](2+) cations. Some short C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N inter-actions may help to establish the packing.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(2)Cl(3)O(2))(2)Cl(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], features a centrosymmetric binuclear complex. The coordination geometry around the Cu(II) atom is square-pyramidal, comprising two N atoms from a symmetrically chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, one O atom from a trichloro-acetate ligand and two Cl(-) anions. In addition, there is a weak intra-molecular Cu?O inter-action of 2.9403?(14)?Å involving the carbonyl O atom of the trichloro-acetate ligand. The central Cu(2)Cl(2) core takes the form of a rhombus, owing to the disparate Cu-Cl bond lengths. Mol-ecules are connected in the crystal structure by C-H?Cl and C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:In the title salt, [Fe(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)][Fe(2)Cl(6)O], the ionic components are linked into a two-dimensional supra-molecular layer by two pairs of C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.655 (4) and 3.498 (3) Å]. The salt is characterized as a mixed-valent Fe(II)-Fe(III) compound, in which an Fe(II) atom is coordinated by three phen ligands, forming a six-coordinated cationic entity and the anionic part is formed by two Fe(III) atoms in tetra-hedral coordination environments constructed by three chloride ions and one bridging oxide ligand. Intra-molecular C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are observed.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ru(C12H8N2)3](ClO4)2, contains one octahedrally coordinated Ru(II) cation of the ruthenium-phenanthroline complex and three differently occupied perchlorate anions: two, denoted A and B, are located on the twofold axis while another, denoted C, is positioned in the proximity of the twofold screw axis. Perchlorate anions B and C are severely disordered. The occupancies of the two major conformers of anion B refined to 0.302 (6) and 0.198 (6). Perchlorate ion C was modeled in two alternate conformations which refined to occupancies of 0.552 (10) and 0.448 (10).
