ABSTRACT: The title compound, {(C(9)H(14)NS)[CdCl(3)]}(n), consists of a linear [CdCl(3)](n) (n) (-) polyanion and a trimeth-yl(4-sulfanylphen-yl)aza-nium cation. The Cd(II) atom is penta-coordinated by four ?(2)-Cl atoms and one terminal Cl atom in a trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The trigonal-bipyramidal units are linked by two opposite shared faces, giving rise to infinite [CdCl(3)](n) chains parallel to the a axis. The cations surround the chain and are linked to them by S-H?Cl and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {(C(4)H(7)N(2))[CdCl(3)(H(2)O)]}(n), contains one 1-methyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium cation, one Cd(II) atom, three Cl atoms and one water mol-ecule. Adjacent Cd ions are inter-connected alternately by paired Cl(-) bridges to generate an infinite one-dimensional coordination chain along the b axis. In the chain, the crystallographically unique Cd(II) atom, with a distorted octa-hedral geometry, is coordinated by five Cl(-) ions and one water mol-ecule. Intra-chain O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding between the cations and the anionic chains consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:The centrosymmetric dinuclear Cu(II) complex, [Cu(2)Cl(4)(C(24)H(21)N(5)O(4))(2)], was synthesized by the reaction of CuCl(2)·2H(2)O with the tripodal ligand 2,2'-[3-(1H-imid-azol-4-ylmeth-yl)-3-aza-pentane-1,5-di-yl]diphthalimide (L). Each of the Cu(II) ions is coordinated by two N atoms from the ligand, two bridging Cl atoms and one terminal Cl atom. The Cu(II) coordination can be best be described as a transition state between four- and five-coordination, since one of the bridging Cl atoms has a much longer Cu-Cl bond distance [2.7069 (13) Å] than the other [2.2630 (12) Å]. In addition, the Cu⋯Cu distance is 3.622 (1) Å. The three-dimensional structrure is generated by N-H⋯O, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.658 (4) and 4.020 (4) Å].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C6H20N3)[BiCl6]·H2O, consists of a triprotonated bis-(3-aza-niumylprop-yl)aza-nium cation, two halves of an octahedral [BiCl6](3-) anion, each of the Bi(III) atoms lying on an inversion centre, and a water mol-ecule. In the crystal, the anions and water mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming chains running parallel to [0-11]. The anionic chains and the cations are further linked into a three-dimensional network by N-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, {(C7H6NS)2[Sb2Cl6O]} n , contains two benzo-thia-zolidium cations and one tri-μ-chlorido-tri-chlorido-μ-oxido-di-anti-monate(III) anion. The structure of the inorganic cation may be described as as being built up from two polyhedra, i.e. a square-pyramidal SbCl4O and a distorted octa-hedral SbOCl5 unit, sharing a common face (comprising the O atom and two Cl atoms). The two benzo-thia-zole cations are quasi-planar and subtend a dihedral angle of 19.93 (5)°. The crystal packing can be described by alternating (100) layers and [001] chains of the organic cations and inorganic anions connected through an extensive three-dimensional network of N-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. This is consolidated by slipped π-π stacking, with centroid-to-centroid distances between the benzo-thia-zole rings of 3.7111 (18)-3.8452 (16) Å. These inter-actions link the mol-ecules within the layers and also link the layers together and reinforce the cohesion of the ionic structure.

The Cd(II) ions are linked by double chlorine bridges alternating between one CdCl(4)(CH(3)OH)(2) and two CdCl(4)(C(15)H(15)NO(2)) octa-hedral coordination units. Additional intrachain N-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bond interactions stabilize this arrangement.

Project description:The title polymer, [Cu(2)Cl(2)(C(9)H(9)N(5))(2)](n), has been prepared by the solvothermal treatment of CuCl with 4-(2-allyl-2H-tetra-zol-5-yl)pyridine. The crystal structure shows that the title compound is a homometallic Cu(I)-olefin coordination polymer, in which the Cu(2)Cl(2) nodes are bridged by two olefin ligands. The asymmetric unit contains one-half of the monomer, the complete monomer having twofold rotation symmetry. The coordination environment of Cu(I) is slightly distorted tetra-hedral, with coordination sites being two μ(2)-Cl atoms, one pyridine N atom of an organic ligand and one allylic double bond of a symmetry-related ligand. Each organic mol-ecule behaves as a bidentate ligand, connecting two neighboring Cu(2)Cl(2) dimers in the polymeric chain, which runs along [010].

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, [Hg(2)Cl(4)(C(6)H(12)N(2))](n), each Hg(II) center within the chain is four-coordinated by one terminal Cl atom, two bridging μ(2)-Cl atoms, and one N-atom donor from a μ(2)-1,4-diaza-bicyclo-[2.2.2]octane (μ(2)-daco) ligand in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The daco ligand acts as an end-to-end bridging ligand and bridges adjacent Hg(II) centers, forming a chain running along [001]. Weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions link the chains into a three-dimensional network. Comparison of the structural differences with previous findings suggests that the space between the two N donors, as well as the skeletal rigidity in N-heterocyclic linear ligands, may play an important role in the construction of such supra-molecular networks.

Project description:The ladder-like structure of the tetranuclear title compound, [Sn(4)(C(6)H(5))(4)Cl(2)O(2)(OH)(2)(C(9)H(13)N)(2)(C(9)H(12)N)(2)]Cl(2)·10CDCl(3), consists of two five- and two six-coordinated Sn(IV) atoms bridged by oxide or hydroxide groups. The chelating ligands reveal rather strong Sn-N bonds [2.517 (4) Å], but the protonated dimethylamino groups in the periphery of the complex show no interaction with the metal atoms. The complex cation is located on an inversion centre. The chloride anion is linked to the complex mol-ecule by strong intra-molecular O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. Five independent deuterochloroform accompany the complex, two of them are disordered [occupancy ratios 0.63 (2):0.27 (2) and 0.60 (2):0.40 (2)].

Project description:The title compound, [Mg(C(3)H(10)NO(6)P(2))(2)](n), synthesized by a hydro-thermal method, adopts a one-dimensional polymeric chain structure and is isotypic with the previously reported Cd complex based on the ligand N,N-dimethyl-amino-methane-1,1-diphospho-nic acid (H(4)L). The asymmetric unit contains one half Mg(2+) ion and one H(3)L(-) anion. The unique Mg(2+) ion lies on an inversion center and is octa-hedrally coordinated by O atoms from six phospho-nate groups of four different H(3)L(-) anions. Each H(3)L(-) anion, with one protonated N atom and two phospho-nate OH groups, serves as a tridentate ligand. Two of its six phospho-nate O atoms chelate to a Mg(2+) cation in a bidentate fashion, while a third O atom bridges to a neighbouring Mg(2+) ion. The inter-connection of Mg(2+) ions by the H(3)L(-)anions leads to the formation of a polymer chain along the a axis in which the adjacent Mg(2+) ions are doubly bridged by two equivalent H(3)L(-) anions. These discrete chains are further assembled into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network via O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the non-coordin-ated phospho-nate O atoms and the protonated N atoms.
