Dichlorido(4'-phenyl-2,2':6',2''-ter-pyridyl)zinc.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [ZnCl(2)(C(21)H(15)N(3))], was obtained from the reaction of ZnCl(2)·4H(2)O with 4'-phenyl-terpyridine (L) and disodium 2,6-dipicolinate. The Zn(2+) cation is ligated by the N atoms of the tridentate L ligand and two chloride anions, forming a ZnN(3)Cl(2) polyhedron with a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry. In the crystal, nonclassical C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds are observed.

In the complex, the two pyridine rings make a dihedral angle of 15.44 (14)°. Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [ZnCl(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2)S)], consists of a six-membered chelate ring in which the Zn atom is approximately tetra-hedrally coordinated by two chloride ions and by the two pyridyl N atoms of a single di-2-pyridyl sulfide ligand. 5,5'-Di-4-pyridyl-2,2'-(5-tert-butyl-m-phenyl-ene)bis-(1,3,4-oxadiazole).

Project description:The title compound, C(24)H(20)N(6)O(2), is a novel 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivative which has potential as an electron-transporting material in organic electroluminescent (EL) devices. In the crystal, the mol-ecular framework is almost planar with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.091 (4) Å and it exists in an E form. Intra-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are observed between the benzene and 1,3,4-oxadiazole rings. The tert-butyl group is disordered over two sites, with occupancy factors of 0.78 (1) and 0.22 (1) for the major and minor orientations, respectively. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules aggregate via C-H⋯N inter-actions, forming mol-ecular tapes along the b axis, which aggregate to form a mol-ecular sheet via C-H⋯N inter-actions.

Project description:The Sn(IV) atom in the title compound, [Sn(C(6)H(5))(C(14)H(19)N(4)S)Cl(2)], exists within a distorted octa-hedral geometry defined by the N,N',S-tridentate monodeprotonated Schiff base ligand, two mutually trans Cl atoms, and the ipso-C atom of the Sn-bound phenyl group; the latter is trans to the azo-N atom. The greatest distortion from the ideal geometry is found in the nominally trans angle formed by the S and pyridyl-N atoms at Sn [151.03?(4)°]. With the exception of the cyclo-hexyl group (chair form), the Schiff base ligand is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation of non-H and Sn atoms = 0.053?Å). The nearly orthogonal orientation of the Sn-bound phenyl group [N-Sn-C-C torsion angle = 70.8?(5)°] to the planar portion of the Schiff base allows for the formation of significant intra-molecular C-H?Cl inter-actions which preclude the Cl atoms from participating in N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Instead, C-H?? contacts, involving methyl-ene H and the Sn-bound phenyl group, lead to the formation of supra-molecular chains that pack in the bc plane. Connections between these layers are of the type C-H?Cl.
