Chlorido(4-methylpyridin-2-amine-?N (1))(2-{[(4-methylpyridin-2-yl)imino-?N]methyl}phenolato-?O)copper(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Cu(C13H11N2O)Cl(C6H8N2)], the Cu(II) atom adopts a distorted tetra-hedral geometry being coordinated by the phenolic O atom and the azomethine N atom of the Schiff base ligand N-salicyl-idene 2-amino-pyridine, and by the 2-amino-pyridine N atom and a Cl atom. The pyridyl N atom of the Schiff base and the imino N atom of the 4-methyl-pyridine-2-yl-imino ligand are not involved in the coordination. There is an intra-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bond involving the pyridine N atom and the amino group of the 2-amino-pyridine ligand. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [001].

Project description:The title compound, [Cu2(C9H10NO2)4], is built of discrete centrosymmetric dimers. The Cu(II) atoms are each five coordinated by two deprotonated Schiff base ligands that are bonded differently to the metal atoms. Of the two phenolate O atoms, one is coordinated to one Cu(II) atom, whereas another bridges the two metal atoms. The basal plane of the square pyramid around Cu(II) atoms is formed by the imino N and phenolate O atoms of the bidentate and the monodentate/bidentate Schiff base ligands. The bridging phenolate oxygen occupies the apical position of the coordination sphere with a considerably longer Cu-O bond length. In the crystal, the dimeric mol-ecules pack relative to each other in such a way that the Cu2O2 planes of adjacent dimers are orthogonal.

The Cd(II) ions are linked by double chlorine bridges alternating between one CdCl(4)(CH(3)OH)(2) and two CdCl(4)(C(15)H(15)NO(2)) octa-hedral coordination units. Additional intrachain N-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen-bond interactions stabilize this arrangement.

Project description:The title compound, [CoCd(C9H10NO2)3Cl2]·H2O, is a solvatomorph of the corresponding hemihydrate recently published by us [Nesterova et al. (2018 ▸). Appl. Cat. A, 560, 171-184]. The current structure reveals different cell parameters and space group compared with the published one while both are monoclinic with almost the same cell volume. The title compound is formed of discrete neutral dinuclear mol-ecules with no crystallographically imposed symmetry and water mol-ecules of crystallization. The overall geometry about the cobalt(III) ion is octa-hedral with an N3O3 environment; each ligand acts as a meridional ONO donor. The CdII coordination sphere approximates an irregular square pyramid with a chlorine atom at the apex. There is significant shortening of a Cd-O bond length to the oxygen atom of the methoxo group on one of the ligands [2.459 (3) Å] compared to the corresponding distance in the published structure [2.724 (7) Å], while other Cd-Cl/N/O bonds remain roughly the same. In the crystal lattice, the heterometallic mol-ecules, which are related by the crystallographic n-glide plane and inter-linked by weak hydrogen bonds to solvent water mol-ecules, form columns along [101]. Adjacent columns lie anti-parallel to each other.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(12)H(9)N(2)O)(2)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)], contains two independent (2-formyl-phen-olato){2-[(pyridin-2-yl)imino-meth-yl]phenolato}copper(II) mol-ecules that form pseudocentrosymmetric dimers via inter-actions between the Cu and pyridyl N atoms of independent monomers. The square-planar geometry of the Cu atoms in the monomer thus becomes square-based pyramidal in the dimer. The crystal studied was an inversion twin, with unequal populations of 0.353?(17) and 0.647?(17).
