ABSTRACT: In the title binuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu2(ClO4)2(OH)2(C10H8N2)2], the Cu(II) ion is coordinated in the form of a Jahn-Teller distorted octahedron by two bi-pyridine N atoms, two perchlorate O atoms and two hydroxide O atoms, and displays a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The mol-ecule belongs to the symmetry point group C 2h . The Cu(II) ion is located on a twofold rotation axis and the hydroxide and perchlorate ligands are located on a mirror plane. Within the dinuclear mol-ecule, the Cu?Cu separation is 2.8614?(7)?Å. The crystal structure exhibits O-H?O, C-H?O and ?-? [centroid-centroid distance = 3.5374?(13)?Å] inter-actions.

Project description:The central CuN(2)O(4) motif of the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], exhibits a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral geometry around the metal atom, showing a considerably long Cu-O bond distance of 2.5058 (12) Å towards the second perchlorate group, giving a (4 + 1+1)-type coordination mode. In the crystal, the components are linked via inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to (001). Additional stabilization within these layers is provided by π-π [centroid-centroid distances of 3.7848 (9)-4.4231 (9) Å] stacking inter-actions.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(NO3)2(C10H8N2)], the Cu(II) cation is chelated by two nitrate anions and by one 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligand in a distorted N2O4 octa-hedral geometry. The dihedral angle between the pyridine rings is 1.92?(11)°. In the crystal, ?-? stacking between parallel pyridine rings of adjacent complex mol-ecules is observed, the centroid-centroid distance being 3.6788?(19)?Å. Weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds further link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

Project description:The title complex, [Co(3)(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(2)(C(2)H(3)O(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The structure features a centrosymmetric complex with three Co(II) centres, one of which is located on a centre of inversion. The Co centres are coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The bipyridine ligands are bonded to just one Co centre in a chelating mode, whereas the 5-nitro-isophthalate and acetate ions are bonded to two different Co atoms. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the mononuclear title compound, [Mn(NCS)2(C10H8N2)2]·C10H8N2, the Mn(II) cation is coordin-ated in an all-cis configuration by two N-bound thio-cyanate anions and two 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands within a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. The asymmetric unit consists of one Mn(II) cation, two thio-cyanate anions and two 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands, as well as two non-coordinating 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands that are each located on centres of inversion. In the crystal structure, the discrete [Mn(NCS)2(C10H8N2)2] complex mol-ecules are arranged in such a way that cavities are formed, in which the solvent 2,2'-bi-pyridine mol-ecules are located. Apart from van der Waals forces, there are no remarkable inter-molecular inter-actions present in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title monomeric manganese(II) complex, [Mn(CH3COO)2(C10H8N2)(H2O)2], the metal ion is coordinated by a bidentate 2,2'-bi-pyridine (bpy) ligand, two water mol-ecules and two axial acetate anions, resulting in a highly distorted octa-hedral environment. The aqua ligands are stabilized by the formation of strong intra-molecular hydrogen bonds with the uncoordinated acetate O atoms, giving rise to pseudo-bridging arrangement of the terminal acetate groups. In the crystal, the mol-ecules form [010] zigzag chains via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the aqua ligands and acetate O atoms. Further, the water and bpy ligands are trans to each other, and are arranged in an off-set fashion showing inter-molecular π-π stacking between nearly parallel bi-py rings, the centroid-centroid separations being 3.8147 (12) and 3.9305 (13) Å.

Project description:The title complex, [CuII(ClO4)(mesoPYBP)](ClO4) {PYBP = 1,1'-bis-[(pyridin-2-yl)meth-yl]-2,2'-bipiperidyl, C22H30N4}, was prepared and found to crystallize with two crystallographically independent complex salt moieties. The metal atoms of the cations adopt a pseudo-square-pyramidal coordination geometry, where the tetra-dentate amino-pyridine ligands (PYBP) are wrapped around the Cu atoms in the equatorial plane. The Cu-O bonds involving an O atom of the coordinating perchlorate anion are approximately perpendicular to the plane. The two remaining non-coordinating perchlorate anions are involved in several C-H?O hydrogen bonds with the PYBP ligand and balance the total charge of the complex salt. The two crystallographically independent moieties are related to each other via a pseudo-translation along the a-axis direction. Exact translational symmetry is broken by (i) a difference in the conformation of one of the piperidine rings, featuring a chair conformation in one of the cations, and a sterically disfavored boat conformation in the other; and (ii) by modulation of the non-coordinating perchlorate anions.
