Poly[[[μ-trans-1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene-κ² N:N']-μ-iodido-copper(I)]-trans-1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene (1/0.25)].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, {[CuI(bpe)]·0.25(bpe)} _n , was synthesized similarly to (CuI)₂(bpe) [Neal et al. (2019 ▸). IUCrData, 4, x190122] with red crystals grown from aceto-nitrile solutions of CuI and the bpe ligand [bpe = 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene, C₁₂H₁₀N₂]. The structure of the title compound is a type 1 complex in the Graham nomenclature [Graham et al. (2000 ▸). Inorg. Chem. 39, 5121-5132], having rhombic dimers of Cu₂I₂ that are bridged by two bpe ligands, to form oligomeric ribbons arranged as stairsteps. The step height is 2.8072 (11) Å, which is the Cu-Iⁱ distance of the dimer [symmetry code (i): 1 - x, 2 - y, 1 - z]. The resulting polymer displays a two-dimensional honeycomb framework along the (01) plane, and disordered free bpe mol-ecules fill the voids in the crystal.

Project description:The reaction of copper(I) bromide with 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene in aceto-nitrile leads to the formation of the title compound, {[CuBr(C12H10N2)]·0.25C12H10N2}n or CuBr(4-bpe)·0.25(4-bpe) [4-bpe = 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene]. The asymmetric unit consists of one copper(I) cation and one bromide anion in general positions as well as two crystallographically independent half 4-bpe ligands and a quarter of a disordered 4-bpe solvate mol-ecule that are completed by centers of inversion. The copper(I) cations are tetra-hededrally coordinated as CuBr2N2 and linked by pairs of μ-1,1-bridging bromide anions into centrosymmetric dinuclear units that are further connected into layers by the 4-bpe coligands. Between the layers, inter-layer C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonding is observed. The layers are arranged in such a way that cavities are formed in which the disordered 4-bpe solvate mol-ecules are located. Powder X-ray (PXRD) investigations reveal that a pure sample has been obtained. Thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermoanalysis (DTA) measurements show two mass losses that are accompanied by endothermic events in the DTA curve. The first mass loss correspond to the removal of 0.75 4-bpe mol-ecules, leading to the formation of (CuBr)2(4-bpe), already reported in the literature as proven by PXRD.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(NCS)(2)(C(12)H(10)N(2))(2)]·C(12)H(10)N(2), the Co(II) cations are octa-hedrally coordinated by two terminally N-bonded thio-cyanate anions and four 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene (bpe) ligands. The asymmetric unit consists of three crystallographically independent Co(II) cations, six thio-cyanate anions and six coordinating bpe ligands in general positions. Additionally, three non-coordin-ating bpe ligands are present in the asymmetric unit with two of them located on a center of inversion. The Co(II) cations are connected by the bpe ligands into layers parallel to the bc plane. The crystal investigated was non-merohedrically twinned, with a fractional contribution of 0.261 (2) for the minor domain.

Project description:In the title compound [Fe(bpe)(Hbpe)Au(CN)2][Au(CN)2]2·bpe·2H2O} n [where bpe = 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethene, C12H10N2], the FeII ion is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral [FeN4O2] environment by two di-cyano-aurate anions, two water mol-ecules and two partially protonated 1,2-di(4-pyrid-yl)ethyl-ene mol-ecules. Di-cyano-aurate anions bridge the FeII cations, forming infinite chains, which propagate along the a-axis direction. The chains are connected via aurophilic inter-actions with two non-coordinated di-cyano-aurate anions for each FeII ion. The polymeric chains inter-act with each other via π-π stacking between the guest bpe mol-ecules and multiple hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd₂I₄(C₆H₁₄N₂)₂](n), there are two independent Cd(II) ions. One Cd(II) ion is coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment by four N atoms from two cyclo-hexane-1,2-diamine ligands and two iodido ligands. The other Cd(II) ion is coordinated by four iodido ligands in a slightly distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment. Project description:The title compounds, [CdBr2(C12H10N4O)]·CH3OH, (I), and [CdI2(C12H10N4O)], (II), are cadmium bromide and cadmium iodide complexes of the ligand (E)-N'-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-ene)picolinohydrazide. Complex (I) crystallizes as the methanol monosolvate. In both compounds, the Cd2+ cation is ligated by one O atom and two N atoms of the tridentate ligand, and by two bromide anions forming a Br2N2O penta-coordination sphere for (I), and by two iodide anions forming an I2N2O penta-coordination sphere for (II), both with a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal of complex (I), mol-ecules are linked by pairs of N-H⋯O and O-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds, involving the solvent mol-ecule, forming dimeric units, which are linked by C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds forming layers parallel to (101). In the crystal of complex (II), mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [010]. A crystallographic inversion centre generates a Cu(2)I(2) diamond with a Cu-Cu separation of 3.0120 (5) Å. The complete N,N'-(1-pyridin-4-yl-ethethyl-idene)-hydrazine mol-ecule is also generated by inversion symmetry, and this bridging ligand leads to [011] polymeric chains in the crystal structure.
